Your dishwasher, when correctly installed, can give you years of uninterrupted hassle free washing and cleaning. Then one day you go to switch on your trusty dishwasher and nothing happens.
What’s the first thing you going to do to fix this annoyance. Well I guess you might find the answer right here on the appliance repair help site but don’t reach for the phone book just yet because this might be something you can fix your self.
I’ll explain. Modern day dishwashers like those manufactured by Bosch and you can include Siemens and Neff in that have a built in safety feature protecting the dishwasher against flooding. The technical term is ‘Anti Flood Device’. There are other manufacturers who provide the same features but for now I’m only going to talk about the Bosch type machines.
In the base of the dishwasher in the plinth there is a float switch. This is your ‘Anti Flood Device’. In the event of your dishwasher over filling, the plinth fills with water, the float rises and actuates the switch. On a Bosch dishwasher this switch will do two things.
Firstly, it will send a signal to the programmer device to notify there is a fault and output a message in the form of a code to some sort of display.
Secondly, the pressure switch acts as the water level indicator for the sump of the dishwasher so when the water level rises the pressure switch will activate the drain pump.
So before you consider throwing good money at new dishwasher, try doing a bit of fault finding your self and you might save yourself a ton of money.
Just a quick update to this ‘Dishwasher will not continue the cycle’ article. There appears to be a common thread in the comments below. Most faults can be referred to the fact that the Anti Flood Overflow device has activated. I have included an image here to show what the anti flood may look like in a Bosch SGS69A02GB/20.

I had the same problem. Constant draining sound despite no water to drain. I have a NEFF. It was fixed by tipping the machine backwards and draining off the excess water from the base unit. Be prepared to wipe the water as the kitchen floor will be flooded!

Hi, I have a Hotpoint FDW80 and I am getting the error AL-10. Can you tell me what this is and how I can fix it. Currently the machine seems to be stuck in a drain cycle.

I have a Neff S5443X2UK/01 Dishwasher and this post helped me save about £300. removing the base plate with the 2 x T20 screws give access to the base tray where water collects from somewhere. Soaking up the water from the tray at the left hand side (where you will feel the float switch, allows the float switch to rise and enables the washer to function properly again. A bit cramped and small fingers help when pushing in cloths or a water magnet to remove the excess water. PLEASE ENSURE THAT THE ELECTRICITY IS TURNED OFF TO YOUR MACHINE WHILE COMPLETING THIS TASK.

Wish I’d seen this earlier. Brilliant answer thank you.

AL-10 is the heating circuit. Check that the heater hasn’t gone open circuit. Alternatively, the connection spade for the heater supply on the main PCB. We discussed that somewhere else in a similar article.

Thanks Ali! Saved us a few hundred quid!

My Bosch machine stopped working at the weekend – constant draining sound after our drains became blocked and the water backed up to the machine flooding it. This article sounds like it might save me a lot of trouble and money.
many thanks, i’ll try this afterwork tonight.
i have a neff dishwasher which is not working – machine starts will not complete cycle eg light remains on dishes are not washed and tablet either remains undispensed or
on top of dishes undisolved.i have cleaned filters, checked
drainage impeller.water appears to stay in pump area and does not fully drain.can anyone help
Dishwasher was working fine, then for no reason would
not work at all. I drained the water out and when I
try to switch on now it blows the fuse in the plug with a
loud bang!
@Beero
If you are blowing fuses then you have a fault going to earth. You have an insulation resistance problem possibly with the heater element. Check the heater has not gone open circuit using your multimeter. Set your meter to OHMS and with the wires disconnected from the heater place the terminal probes across the terminal ends.
No reading is open circuit.
Now place the terminal probe across one terminal and the earth or chassis. Set your meter to at least 2K. If you get a reading across here then the heater is shorting to earth.
Strictly speaking, this insulation resistance test can only be done with a Megger. Ask any sparky what that is if you don’t already know.
@Delboy
If you find that your dishwasher sticks during the programme cycle or never completes then you may like to consider using the in built diagnosis programm that comes pre-configured with most modern day dishwashers.
If you have a electronic programaable timer then you can normally switch to test mode by first switch off the appliance. Now hold down the programme select button and at the same time press the power on button. Hold for 2 or 3 seconds and it should beep. You are now in test mode. Different models may vary.
Previous suggestions are valid but, I notice there is no mention of earth leakage circuit breakers operating? With Beko carry out a test of the mains lead and moulded on plug first! This is a problem I have found with these machines and will be found as a short circuit (0 or very low resistance) between live and neutral pins of the plug with the mains lead disconnected at the machine end of the mains lead. This obiviously make the fuse blow – usually as soon as the machine is plugged in, and before the heater comes on. A new 13amp good quality plug top could be fitted to the lead – or obtain a replacement lead from Beko. Always remember to test for safety, polarity and continuity of the electrical leads after any repair – get a sparky to do this if you haven’t the means. Failure to do so may put you and yours at risk of electric shock.
Help – I am having the exact same problem so we figured it was the anti-flood device tripped but we have a built in Neff and can’t find where to reset the device. We removed the kickboard below but there is nothing to remove to get to the wires and anywhere to soak up water. We don’t know how to remove the dishwasher from the fittings to pull it out and tip it up as discussed above. Can anyone help, I am really loathe to spend a huge callout fee when it is probably fairly simple to fix. Thanks.
You need to remove the appliance from under your work surface. Switch off the appliance and isolate from the electrical supply – pull the plug out!. Open the door and look for the screws that are scuring the appliance to the uderside of the work surface. Remove the screws and then adjust the feet downwards so as to give you enough clearance between the top of the dishwasher and the underside of the work surface. Now the dishwasher can easily be removed from its position.
With that done now tilt the dishwasher back until you see the water run out from the base plate.
Right the machine and test it before you slide it back under the work surface.
Thank you so much for your reply. As a result we managed to get the machine out and tipped it right back but unfortunately no water came out
We reset the machine and restarted it but it is still stuck on a drain cycle. We tried a couple of times just to be sure and still no luck. Looks like we will have to find the money to get someone out to repair it. Thank you again for your help.
Please can you inform if the Hoover Slimeline Dishwasher Model No hds 555m has the anti flood switch and where can it be located on the machine,if yes how do you reset it.
Colin.
Yes your HDS555 has the anti flood device. It sits on the base plate or plinth plate on the bottom of the dishawsher. Basically as the water rises, so does the little float which in turn actuates the microswitch. There is no reset to speak of. You need to drain the water out by tipping the appliance back.
we have a hotpoint fdw85 and all was fine up until 3 days ago when the AL05 error displayed, so cleaned all the filters switched off and then on again only to be greeted with the AL01 error (flood activation device) tilted machine back until a small amount of water ran away, mopped up and tried again, no joy, have taken of the pump and checked along with all the hoses pipes etc and still stuck with AL01, have layed machine on left handside and the polystyrene block that activates the flood switch is all dry and lowered no water anywhere have even taken of the salt container and washed through and hey presto still stuck with AL01, any ideas will be greatly recieved
For Bosch S9F1B : THe machine was working fine then mid cycle there was a loud Pop not a bang and then it stopped. THere is water left in the bottom of the machine. Ive checked the fuse and it has NOT blown. If anyone has any ideas on what could be the problem or finding out what the problem is I would be very grateful . I dont want to spend a load of cash on it …only to find out from the call out that it is totally gone.
Many thanx.
Jomps/
@sharon.
Likely the module is stuck in the error mode. You may have to cancel the error to get the machine to restart.
Try pressing the start / pause button at the same time pressing the power on / off button. It may beep, then select the first programm in the cycle and power off.
Now power on and hit the start button.
@Jomps
You don’t say whether the appliance will power up or even allow you to select a program. The loud pop could be a capacitor bursting. Either motor start capacitor or mains surpressor.
Hi I have just found your site and I am trying some of the suggestions. I have a built in Technik dishwasher. It is washing but then not draining away. The machine makes a noise but doesn’t drain away. Once I have manaually removed the water it will then start again. Any suggestions. Thanks Jane
Have an Ariston AFA 250 dishwasher. Beeps at switch on then cycles through chosen programme – fill, heat and wash and then stops showing two flashing lights spray and wash. Hot water left in the bottom at this point. Anti flood float ok, air pressure switch cycles ok, soap dispenser opens ok. “Bit 100″ controller so no LED error code display. Where can one get error code listing?before changing control module, pumps etc..
Hi
I have a Candy dishwasher about 10 years old. Yesterday it worked fine – today its dead. I checked obvious electrics – even replaced cable to terminals at the back – this powers other equipment, so no problem there. Removed front panel at top of door. No power is reaching the on off switch, (made sure I was activating door switch. Any ideas?
Many thanks
With Bit 100 codes you have to read the LEDs – left to right.
1 + 2 – Timeout on draining
2 + 3 Timeout on filling
What numbers are the spray and wash lights.
I have a Neff dishwasher. I have replaced the drain pump and the control module. When i now turn the machine on fills with water. The control module then clicks and then there is a small hum for a few seconds. It then sounds as if the pump is trying to work and every few minutes this repeats. I open the door and there is water just sitting in the bottom. I can press the reset buttons to take it to the end cycle and empty the water. Why is it stopping mid cycle and not doing a full wash??
As we don’t know what the fault was before you changed those parts it is difficult to say what is going on. My guess is you are experiencing the same symptoms now as what you where before you changed the parts.
The hum is the pump doing it’s thing. It’s waiting for the signal to switch off via the pressure switch. There is a delay but it may be stuck in error mode. As we don’t know your model, try holding down the programme button at the same time as you turn on the power. That will either cancel test mode or initiate it.
Failing all that it could be the hum of the wash pump motor. Disconnect the connector block to the drain pump and try again. If it still hums it is the wash pump. Possibly the start capacitor.
I have a BOSCH dishwasher SGS4502EP/01, it’s about 6 years old, my problem is it will not fill or start any cycle, all you get is a grunting / groaning noise coming from the RHS bottom which after about 20 secs stops then nothing. Had the mains water inlet pipe off cleaned the filter applied power to the solenoid and manually filled the machine, so its not a water issue, some switch is blocking the supply, but as I’ve no manual or drawing I can’t trace the circuit, there are no fault indicators on this machine. Checked the anti flood device, if you raise the arm the sump pump activates. Have filled the machine manually but still does not cycle?
Hi,
I have a Hotpoint FDW80 that has been giving me problems for several months. Only very rarely does it complete a full wash cycle – typically it stops and gives an AL10 error. When I spoke to Hotpoint they said it sounded like a blockage and sold me some sachets of Limescale and Detergent remover which I’ve tried – they seem to help for a couple of washes but thereafter the error reappears. I’ve seen the other comments in this thread about the AL10 error. Some seem to suggest it’s a problem with the heating circuit (although I’m not sure about this), others suggest it’s a problem with drainage and the anti-flood device. I’ve tried tipping the unit backwards to drain out any excess water but nothing emerges. Any suggestions greatfully received.
I have a Neff s5443x2uk integral dishwasher. When I switch on , select cycle and close door, the machine makes a noise as though it was ging to start – and then nothing. There is no water going in. All pipes are connected.
Can anybody help? we bought a 2nd hand dishwasher as our old one was tripping our electric and we presumed it was a problem in the panel and as it was a good few years old we decided to replace it, this “new one” has worked fine for a couple of months but last night it flooded the kitchen, I emptyed the water and gave it a good clean out but now this one is just tripping the electric when i switch it on, can someone tell me what to check/do before this one goes to dishwasher heaven and i get on ebay again?
to add to my previous comment, we have turned the dishwasher on its back and drained the water that was in the bottom tray, allowed it to dry and now it will switch on without blowing the trop switch, it now fills, heats, but then doesnt go through the wash cycle, just waits a while and then empties itself? can someone give me some help as to what to look at or replace please? hate being without it!
I have a Siemens SE65A560, which has decided to stop on 1 minute remaining of any cycle. Any ideas?????
I’ve got a Siemens SE64630GB – it’s built in. I was running a cleaning cycle and it seems to have cut out quite early on. When I opened it up, I noticed water in the base of the unit, the power lights in the door were out and won’t come back on.
I’ve cleaned the filters and tried to mop up the water inside.
Any suggestions on how I can get it powered on again?
Hi
I have a Caple built in dishwasher that occasionally doiesnt complete a cycle and also sometimes ejects the tablet into the machine and it is still there at the end of the wash. Any ideas appreciated
We have a Bosch Exxcel Auto Option Dishwasher (DW) for over 7 years now and it has finally started to go wrong. I don’t know what model it is, but I will find out, if someone wants to know. Firstly, about a year ago, the DW tab would not come out and the dishes were not very clean, but this was fixed by removing the calcium from the spray arms and we have now used a DW descaler twice since, as we do live in an area that has hard water. Last week, we noticed that the dishes were not clean again and the cycle would take twice as long. We discovered that there is no hot water and on opening the completed cycle, it is stone cold and the dishes are also still wet and had not dried properly, leaving residue marks! I have read that the Bosch DW control circuit board has a major design defect with undersized relays on it and in order to fix it I need to replace the control circuit board as it will have been short circuited! Is this correct? How much would it cost to have it replaced, or should I just buy a new DW and avoid Bisch Bosch, or is it something else that might be simple to fix, he hopes and prays for
Any help or comments would be much appreciated. Thank you.
I HAVE a Neff dishwasher S54M45X5GB it has developed a fault that causes it to continually fill up then pump out then fill up then pump out over and over again. It also has the tap symbol constantly illuminated even after you cancel it – it just comes back on. These symptoms happen on all cycle options. Please help.
Some times if i press 2 program buttons when switching on it toggles ‘PO’ then ‘C3′ What does this mean
@Brian. The story behind the heater relays actually stems from a dry joint on the pcb where the heater cable connects to. When you have a dry joint you get arching thet then tracks back across the pcb tracks to the relays and then burns them out. I have actually done a repair to these boards a couple of times. The relays can be purchased from rapid electronics. You can email me directly with requests for spare parts. Look on the inside of your dishwasher soor for the model number.
#gixer800 This sounds like the water fill sensor or flow rate sensor is failing. You will find it in the regen box inline with the water inlet pipe. It is a small impeller that measures water flow. Try to remove it and clean the contacts. If that doesn’t work you may have to replace it.
I’m having problems with my Hoover HDS555. I have already carried out the actions recommended by the extremely helpful Spare Parts Pro, (earlier in thread).
When a programme is selected and started, the machine starts to fill with water, but goes into emergency pumping-out mode after 30 seconds or so. I have drained the machine by tipping it (4 times, to date), but that does not solve the problem. I have also located the anti flood device on the base plate, and that looks fine. Might it be something else? Is there a pressure valve somewhere that I should be checking/unblocking/drying out?
Any help appreciated, before resorting to the besieged allet!
Paul
Hi there, I have left questions that have remained unanswered, even though other users have had their more recent questions delt with, have i missed something please? Was i supposed to subscribe? a bit of help would be lovely, thanks
Bev
@Bev If you are using powder detergent then you must return to using tablets and ensure that you place them in the dispenser. The reason being that the start of each wash cycle there is a prewash. If you are placing powder in the dishwasher then the prewash will dissolve the detergent and the water will faom up and create an artificial rise in water. The water will then flow into the drip tray and activate the anti flood device.
With that out of the way, lets assume you are using the dishwasher correctly.
If your mains is tripping when you use the dishwasher, we can’t just assume that the fault is with the dishwasher. The trip switch in your consumer unit is measuring earth leakage at something around 30mA.
The ring main in your kitchen maybe on the same ring main as the house. Lets say you have 30 appliances around the house all connected to the mains. That means that anything creater that 1mA earth leakage from each appliance will cause the trip to go.
Why not unplug all appliances from the mains and just have the dishwasher only connected to the mains and then try it again. If it no longer trips the mains then it means that you have more than one faulty appliance in your house but we will not discount the dishwasher at this stage.
At the moment we don’t know what make and model you have but I would guess that it has a programmer device with push buttons. Power off and hold down the start button and programme selector button simultaneously, press the power button and hold the two buttons until the appliance beeps. When it does, release the buttons and the machine is now in test mode. With each press of the power button will test that part of the programme and will stop at the point that it fails.
The programme will either display an error code or will beep a number of times to signify the fault.
Of course you could submit a Support Request and get other help and advice.
Hello,
I left a query, so far unanswered, way back on on Feb 10th: any chance of anyone taking a look again and seeing if they can help? Needless to say, the dishwasher is still OOD.
Thankyou so much for your reply, the dishwasher is a slimline indesit D41, it only has a push in start button and a manual “click around” switch for the programs, there are 4 progams on it, as said above we followed advice of checking the over flow, which we did, and machine had filled in the bottom, so we emptied and dried it out, machine now does work BUT only fills, heats, waits for about half an hour or so, then empties, doesnt actually go through the wash cycle as far as i can tell, plates come out as dirty as went in, we are just unsure what part, if any, to buy, or what to do really, we use tablets and have never used powder detergent, salt chamber is always checked and filled when needed, we are haning onto the dishwasher at present in the hope we can find an answer, anmore help on that one? and thankyou once again for any help given, Bev
@Bev – Once the dishwasher has filled, can you confirm that it actually heats up. Can you feel that the water is getting warm. If so during this wait period, can you hear a noise from the appliance like a hum. Mains hum to be precise. If it continues like this for about half an hour then I suspect that either the wash pump has failed or it is the starter capacitor on the wash pump that has failed. Change out the starter capacitor.
Sorry your query never got answered. I’ll fish it out and see if I can answer it for you. I am inundated with repair requests each day that I find difficult to keep on top of. For that reason I have created a support site for answering such questions at http://support.spare-parts-pro.com. This repair blog was meant to be community driven but I have yet to see someone step up to the plate and take on the challenge. We shall see.
@Paul – You could try disconnecting the microswitch from the anti flood device and trying it again. I can’t remember if the switch is NO or NC. If the capillary tube connecting the pressure switch has either a blockage or a hole in it, it can have the same effect. Try blowing lighlty in the tube to see if it acts on the diaphragm of the presure switch. Place a multimeter across the terminals of the pressure switch to see if it actually switches electrically.
Hi, Can you help me please. I have got a Hotpoint FDW85. Purchased in Jan 2008. I start a program and it takes water in and heats it up but continues to heat the water and does not continue through its cycle. I can hear the water boiling and contiues to boil until i press cancel/reset and then it drains it all out. It sounds like a large kettle boiling. It does not display any error codes. Thank you for your time. Lee
The heater is protected via a temperature probe or NTC device. It should cut out before it gets to boiling point. Firstly is there sufficient water in the sump. If not then it won’t take long to over heat the water. You really need a multimeter so you can check the resistance of the probe. All probes are different so expect it to read about 20kOhms at room temperature. The properties of the probe are that its resistance is inversally proportional to the temperature. The heating process does not begin until such time there is the right level of water. We get that from the pressure switch. It acts as a water level indicator. It may be that the pressure switch is at fault. The dishwasher is designed to fail safe so what ever the fault is, the heater will cut out and then the drain pump will come in to drain down the water.
Hiya, I hope you can help me. We have a SMEG slimline DF410S which appears to have a fault that is not producing an error code. The cycle starts and after about 10 mins beeps twice then stops. The time remaining stops flashing and the machine appears to go into ‘sleep mode’. I opened the machine today and there was water in the bottom that had not drained. I closed and pressed start and the machine started then stopped again but eventually after repeated presses it completes the cycle. This happens sporadically but has happened a number of times now. Thanks for your time, Rebecca
Two beeps is normally overfill. Check the bottom tray has no water in it. Try resetiing the programme. Power Off. Hold down the programme button while powering on. Machine will beep went it resets. Now power off, leave a while and power back on.
Hi I also have a Neff that sticks on a point in the cycle. The red tap light glows, it fills quite happily and if I reset it it drains all the water out. I tipped it back and no water came out. It starts up and seems to be filling and emptying but nothing is happening and it does not advance to the next part of the cycle. Obviously both inlet and outlet pipes are OK and the punp is not jammed. Any suggestions?
i left a question about a month ago, how come its been deleted..? Or was it lost during the site upgrade? everything looks different
hi my bosch (i think its an s6g91b, exxcel model) dw is playing up. halfway through the wash programme it decided not to go any futher, just keeps trying to drain when nothing left to drain, i’ve removed the filters and watched the water drain, the only was to stop the machine is to turn it off then the water its tried to drain flows back into the bottom. ( i’ve tried to switch if off using the reset progrmme on the front, but no joy) when i switch the machine on the program/timer does reset as it would to run a new cycle, but the machine just tries to keep draining. any help gratefully receivd.
regards
Rebecca, our SMEG dishwasher was playing up today and was producing a number 6 error code. It sorta sounds like what your dishwasher is doing. It was not draining properly and not finishing the wash and I had to keep hold of the start button for a good few minutes to get to drain and try washing again. I pulled it out and tipped it backwards like someone suggested and it sorted the problem out!!
Thanks for the thread I would have had to call out a service guy and seeing that all it need was tipping back I wouldn’t have been impressed!!
Rebecca
Sorry Edd. Some stuff got lost on the site revamp. Wordpress integration and site migration took it’s toll. Try contacting us directly for support requests.
Hi there – great site. I have a Bosch slimeline dishwasher that seems to lose its power mid-cycle. Some cycles can run fine, others stop at random intervals and all lights on the display goes off. Often adapting the position of the plug in the socket seems to repower the machine. I’ve tried plugging this into other sockets and the problem persists… any suggestions gratefully received. The machine is about 6 years old.
It could be a faulty power chord so is worth checking the chord where it terminates in the appliance. Very likely you have a moulded plug so if you have a faulty pin you can either cut the plug off and wire in a new one or buy a new power chord.
I have an old Hoover Crysaljet 7000 and it is stuck in the wash cycle, it just keeps washing, even when you turn it off anf back on. Is there a way of resetting or advancing to the drain cycle. Thanks
OK so it might be stuck in the wash cycle, so assuming the programmer isn’t failing, the machine is stuck at this cycle position because the programme is waiting for something to happen. You are best placed to advise on what is supposed to happen next. Perhaps the machine is supposed to heat the water up at this stage, maybe it is waiting for the water to drain or even fill. What ever is meant to happen at this part of the cycle is most likely to be where the fault is. Go back and have another think about it and by method of elimination you should be able to narrow down the fault to atleast to components. Invest in a multimeter so you can take readings and test devices for open circuit.
I have a NEFF dishwasher. It goes through the motions of doing the cycle but the detergent reamins on the bottom of the dishwasher, undisolved. The load is still dirty and wet. It does still drain
I’ve seen a couple of questions about the cause of AL10 error code on Ariston/Hotpoint dishwashers.
My LD87 is running hot, and (I think) cutting out near the end of the cycle and draining before stuff is clean.Anyone know what trips an AL10 code?
I have a baumatic dishwash and it fills up ok but then it won’t complete it’s cycle I’m not sure where the anti flood system is I have tried tipping it as suggested but someone but this doesn’t do anything no water comes out could it be something else? can anyone help would be very greatful
Have a Hotpoint FDW85, have recently had the heater replaced and has worked fine since (6 weeks) but today have got an AL-10 error, it gets within 3 minutes of the end of the cycle and then stops, I think this is the drying cycle?
Is there anything I can try?
I have a 14 year old Siemens dishwasher that stops 5 times in the cycle always at the same places. I turn the knob a little each time and it goes on and finishes with everything clean and dry. What can be the problem?
If this dishwasher has the electro mechanical type timer then it is likely the contacts are sticking at these programmer positions. Mechanical failure of the contacts due to its age. If you are sure that all other operations are working correctly like draining down of water, heating up of water, soap dispensing and drying cycle then you will have to consider changing the timer. As we don’t know what model you have we can’t advise any further.
AL10 is the Heating Circuit failure. It could be failing on the thermal cutout device or if this machine has the electronic pcb which I think it has then check the heater supply connector on the PCB. A known dry joint fault occurs on this type of dishwasher. A keen electronics ‘diyer’ should be able to affect a good repair.
“I have a Neff S5443X2UK/01 Dishwasher and this post helped me save about £300. removing the base plate with the 2 x T20 screws give access to the base tray where water collects from somewhere. Soaking up the water from the tray at the left hand side (where you will feel the float switch, allows the float switch to rise and enables the washer to function properly again. A bit cramped and small fingers help when pushing in cloths or a water magnet to remove the excess water ……. ”
Thanks for this advice ……Difficult to soak the water up from the base tray …I used kitchen towel but be careful to use long lengths so you can pull the wet end back ……When enough water has been removed the machine will switch off when the door is opened but in my case still drained on all programmes until I reset the machine …Then great its working …Thanks to all previous posts
Hi, I have a neff S5433X0GB/29 and it is working fine until the end of the cycle where it will not drain. I have done all the recommended checks and all is clear and the impellors are free. It sounds as though it is draining but watching the clear tubes at the side the water doesn’t make it above the u bend at the top. The pump/motor appears to be spinning ok, can it still be faulty or do you have any other suggestions??
@Craig The drain pump on this dishwasher is a synchronus pump. It only has two poles. When it fails it appears to still be working when it’s not but what it really is, it is the impeller oscillating. If you are familiar with electrics, you can take the pump off and run it up on a bench and you will see what I mean. Do this at your own risk. I will not be responsible for death.
Hi there,
I have recently brought a house including the dishwasher, which is a Hoover HND 325. The dishwasher was working fine but now it does not seem to heat up, and stops in the mioddle of the cycle and will not drain the water away. The programe light flashes really quickly and all the water is just sitting at the bottom, stone cold. If I turn the power off and on again, the water then drains away, but makes no attempt to dry it. It is the first dishwasher I have owned and we do not have the instruction manual so your help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Paul
Hi, I have an Ariston AFA350. It keeps filling up with water at the bottom and lights 1 & 2 keep flashing (from left to right out of 4 lights). The tablet is sitting in the bottom too undissolved. Occassionally if I start a new cycle it will drain out the bottom. If it does complete a cycle the tablet is not dissolved nor the plates cleaned. It makes a noise like it wants to work but very rarely even hear water swishing about. Please can anyone help
Thank you
Hi there,
i have a neff S49T45N1EU dishwasher that works starts normally but does not complete the cycle
stuck the clock few minutes before the program is finished
continues to work without ever completing
how can I put on test mode or reset the unit ??

Ioannis
Please help, I have a Beko dishwasher DE 2541 FX, its a very basic machine with 5 settings a start/pause button and on/off button, no digital display just a light it indicate it’s on and 1 to say its off. As many other posts the machine starts, water goes in it sloshes about, it gets warm and it drains, the problem is it seems to forget what to do ans then keeps running but nothing happens I have tipped it back and collected water, I have taken the panel off and clean the clogged looking pipe and still it just runs. It won’t turn off, I have no idea how to reset as so basic, have tried holding both buttons. Although I have had the panel Off I have no idea where a float could be as there is nothing obvious, I would really love not to spend each night pulling this thing out in a small kitchen and disconnecting water etc as its the only way to move it, any suggestion would be very welcome, if I have to wash another plate by hand I just might scream. Thanks
@Lynn Can I suggest you try Marigolds to protect those hands. Only joking. Let me have a think about this one and I’ll come back to you.
Thank you
@Kirsty Lights 1 & 2 means a timeout on the drain pump but is not consistant with what you are describing.
The noise you are hearing is probably the wash pump. If you can’t hear the water washing around then it could be the capacitor for the wash pump.
