We have been supplying Zanussi Dishwasher Parts for the longest time and find that the parts that fail the most are the internal parts of the cabinet. The plastic parts inside the workings of the dishwasher are exposed to the harsh environment of the dishwasher because of both the hot water and the salt and detergent being used during the wash cycle.
Apart from the dishwasher racks themselves your are likely to want to change the basket wheels. The plastic is a form of polythene and easily breaks down. What you will find is the axle of the wheel will wear and the wheels will fall off as you pull the dishwasher rack in and out.
Other things to consider is the filter system. In the base of the dishwasher is a dual filter system. Firstly you have the large circular disc filter. This is used to prevent the heavy solids from being dragged through the water system. Then below this large filter is a fine mesh filter. This sits at the input side of the wash pump. This allows clean water to pump around the dishwasher.
This filter is made of a similar plastic that will corrode fairly easily. After 4 or 5 years constant use you are probably looking at changing it. If you service your dishwasher on a regular basis you will very likely get many more years of service out of it.
