Green energy is now more affordable and practical for homes and businesses to install than in past decades. Green energy has become more realistically-priced for average consumers as various research studies by firms and academic institutions alike have made the technology smarter and streamlined production processes. In addition, as energy cost steadily increase; public approval of green energy alternatives has become greater.

Solar heating tubes are a good alternative to the conventional gas boiler heater type of units seen in nearly every property. The arguments that support this kind of green energy installation are numerous and should be considered when weighing what heating system to purchase for heating water in a residential or business structure to be built or renovated.

The answer to reducing expenditures for heating water is solar heating tubes. This is a relatively novel method that employs vacuum-sealed tubes for capturing renewable energy from the sun. The energy from the sun increases the temperature of the special fluid inside the tubes and distributes the heat in the fluid through the hot water system. This hot fluid can rise up to around 87.8 degrees celsius.

And because the tubes holding the liquid are sealed there is not a lot of regular maintenance jobs to do. The heating unit using the solar heating tube system itself, can go for virtually twenty years without ever having to be maintained, or fiddled with other than to switch the system on and off. The general lifespan of the old modeltechnology of boiler heater is thirteen years. A water heating unit utilizing solar heating tubes will last several years longer, and has an added benefit of being less expensive to use.

Conventional hot water heating systems usually come with 5 year warranties. This is five years that the property owner does not have to worry about beakdowns in the heating system while still paying for the utilities. After the five years is done, the tank could go at anytime. Another hazard of the regular hot water boilers has to do with the very purpose of the hot water heater. While safeguards on these electric appliances have improved dramatically over the last thirty years or so, gas leaks during installation and uninstallation of the conventional hot water heater can still take place. Solar heating tubes utilize the sun’s energy and not gas for heat, thus, chances of gas leakage is nill. They are filled with a special liquid that is ecologically safe so even if a leak were to somehow occur, your everyone in your house, including your pets will continue to be safe.

The power usage needed to pump water is much less than the expense of heating a 55 gallon tank of water. Hence, a system using solar heating tubes can be ran at a smaller percentage of the total power charges that comes with conventional heating equipments.

The present pipe system already in place does not have to be modified in order to work with solar heating tubes. In fact with most types of green energy the initial set-up is quite unobtrusive. It’s the same for solar heating tubes. There is not a massive amount of plumbing to be done, no expensive and hard to find pipes are used for the building itself, so this makes installation much easier than one would normallythink. Reading and researching is your first action plan. Contacting your state or county supplier, or finding an internet dealer would be your second step.

Be prepared to be overloaded with offers. With a lot of suppliers expanding their reach into the green energy segment, there are several dealers to select from. Make sure that whoever you buy your solar heating unit from is a reputable seller. For picking out suppliers, it is important to check references and to ask as many questions you need to feel at ease about your purchasing decision.

We wish you success in your implementation plans and we thank you for your willingness to learn the benefits of green energy, and specifically solar heating tubes. Reading this article is your introduction to a more energy efficient and environmentally responsible lifestyle.

Good Reasons For Choosing Heating Oil For Your Home

There are a lot of people worrying about their finances especially the way the economy is. When the weather is cold, we all need to have the heating on and this winter just proved that point even further. There are a few options when it comes to keeping warm so why would you want to choose heating oil?

The most important factor to bear in mind is that heating oil works out cheaper than gas. And we could see even cheaper oil as there are attempts at developing a form of recyclable oil. Trials are already taking place with old cooking oil being used to heat a number of buildings. Although this doesn’t mean that you can just chuck your old heating oil into your tank, but in the future it might be a form of fuel. And you will be able to help the environment as well as save some money if this happens.

The fact that the heating oil you use is stored on your premises makes it a good choice of fuel. That means that you don’t have to worry about having your heating supply interrupted due to problems which are not your fault. If you do encounter any problems you will know that they are to do with your own system. If you remember to order enough heating oil and maintain your system then you shouldn’t have too many problems.

When it comes to safety, heating oil is probably one of the safest fuels. It does not combust even if you were to put a lighted match inside the tank. However it is not recommended that you test this theory. Oil only becomes a problem if it leaks and this is rarely a problem. If you were to experience an oil leak it would be relatively straightforward to get it dealt with, without any danger to your home or your family.

When it comes to choosing the fuel to heat your home the reasons above prove why heating oil is such a good choice.

Some people spend a lot of money heating their homes in the winter. Electricity and gas prices are very high and show no signs of coming down any time soon. Clever people are switching to heating oil as a fuel though. Cheapest heating oil can ensure everybody’s tanks remain full. Heating oil suppliers are found countrywide and can, as an example, supply heating oil Cumbria.

The act of breathing is so essential and automated that usually we will not give it any consideration. Without air and the capacity to take in air we wouldn’t have the ability to live. Vital to our health and well-being is the good quality of the air which we breathe. Frequently the good quality of that air is badly effected by pollution, cigarette smoke and dust particles. This could certainly have an undesirable effect on the well being of people that are suffering from allergen hypersensitivity and have breathing difficulties like individuals with symptoms of asthma. The good news is you can get air ionizer purifier machines which you could get to eradicate these allergens.

Undoubtedly the most important ingredient in the air that individuals inhale is the oxygen that it carries. However the air is additionally full of potentially harmful contaminants that are frequently seen with the naked eye. You have probably observed this yourself if you are in your house on a very sun-drenched day. You’ll have most likely witnessed the sun’s rays streaming via the window if you seen it at a particular angle you will have spotted the many tiny particles floating in the air. You inhale these straight into your lungs. Devices like an electrostatic air purifier can take out these dust in order that you don’t have to breathe them in. These kind of appliance can thus give excellent relief if you happen to suffer from allergy symptoms or asthma. Did you know that much of the dust is really dead human and animal skin? For those who are living with a cigarette smoker then cigarette smoke is rife with particles. Then of course you have the air pollution which comes from beyond your household from traffic exhaust. Thus maybe you should look at getting a air purifier and ionizer.

These home air cleaners function by filtering the air in your home so that there are much less particles in the air at the time you breathe it. So there’s significantly less chance of any kind of breathing or allergy difficulties getting irritated because of the tiny dust particles. Home air cleaners can be obtained starting off with smaller units which have been intended to purify the air in a single room. Larger home air cleaners can be obtained which have the capacity to cleanse the air inside your entire home. Along with filtering the contaminants from the air they’re able to even purify the air as well.

Should you be considering getting an home air cleaner then you ought to actually look into one of the HEPA machines. This stands for High Efficiency Particulate Air. As the name suggests they are efficient at filtering out more of the particles than other types of units. They can protect you against particles in the air as small as 3 microns in size and are able to capture 99.9% them. You can also get ozone air cleansers but some investigation advises that these might perhaps be bad for you. Therefore I would suggest sticking with a HEPA unit. It might be wise to see the machine functioning before you decide to purchase it as some can be quite noisy.

In society today, more people have allergies and respiratory problems than ever before. With the environment around us constantly being filled with pollutants, its difficult to avoid being subjected to various elements. We might not be able to do anything about the pollutants outside, but we can do something about the inside of our homes, which is why carpet and upholstery cleaners are such a good idea. If you suffer with asthma or allergies, keeping your home exceptionally clean is one of the most important things you can do.

Many do not realise the pollutants that live within the four walls of our home and these can trigger a variety of allergies quickly and suddenly. Dust mites are one of the most common problems in the home and these little creatures can bury themselves in bedding, sofas, carpets, realistically, any type of fabric, so it is particularly important that homeowners try and reduce the dust mite allergens in their homes. The best way to do this is to hire carpet and upholstery cleaners who will take care of all your cleaning needs and ensure that each area of your home receives a thorough, deep clean.

Cleaning Your Carpets Frequently

All carpets in the home can harbour dust mites and these are what cause human allergies. One solution might be to have laminate flooring in your home, as this won’t trigger any allergies. The main problem with laminate flooring is that it just isn’t inviting enough, and on a cold winter night, the last thing you want to be doing is stepping on a cold wooden floor. For those that love carpets but find they cause allergies, the best advice is to hire carpet and upholstery cleaners on a regular basis. Your cleaners can visit weekly to keep on top of dust mites and your home will receive a thorough, deep clean.

Don’t Forget To Clean The Upholstery Too

The upholstery in a home often gets neglected, but unclean upholstery can cause many respiratory problems without even realising it. Upholstery is like an allergen city, with cushions, bedding and sofas all harbouring the pesky little dust mites, so this is worth bearing in mind. Dust mites in upholstery can cause many allergies and that’s why your best bet is to speak to upholstery cleaners.

There are many health benefits when you decide to get your carpets and upholstery cleaned, and it is worth remembering that people can become susceptible to dust allergies at any time in their lives, so the sooner you do something about it, the better it is for everyone. Hire professional carpet and upholstery cleaners and see the difference it can make.

We supply Zanussi Spares for all types of Zanussi Domestic Appliances. Over the years it has become apparent that the most popular Zanussi Appliance has been the Zanussi Dishwasher.

We have been supplying Zanussi Dishwasher Parts for the longest time and find that the parts that fail the most are the internal parts of the cabinet. The plastic parts inside the workings of the dishwasher are exposed to the harsh environment of the dishwasher because of both the hot water and the salt and detergent being used during the wash cycle.

Apart from the dishwasher racks themselves your are likely to want to change the basket wheels. The plastic is a form of polythene and easily breaks down. What you will find is the axle of the wheel will wear and the wheels will fall off as you pull the dishwasher rack in and out.

Other things to consider is the filter system. In the base of the dishwasher is a dual filter system. Firstly you have the large circular disc filter. This is used to prevent the heavy solids from being dragged through the water system. Then below this large filter is a fine mesh filter. This sits at the input side of the wash pump. This allows clean water to pump around the dishwasher.

This filter is made of a similar plastic that will corrode fairly easily. After 4 or 5 years constant use you are probably looking at changing it. If you service your dishwasher on a regular basis you will very likely get many more years of service out of it.

#rememberatimewaybackwhen No really can you Remember a Time Way Back When the internet wasn’t what it is today. It was some much fun then and not at all cluttered with the busy lives of internet marketers or even marketeers. I don’t know the exact date but it must have been around ’89 or ’90 when the top internet provider was Compuserve. Oh those where the days. 14K Modems on dial-up. Cost per minute from your telephone provider plus the 5 or 6 quid Compuserve would charge per month.

In true internet spirit we didn’t really have Search, it was what ever Compuserve would throw at you through their portal. You could only get access if you loaded their browser software and as the internet progressed we eventually got a window on the world when compuserve opened up their network. They integrated Microsoft Internet Explorer into the system that allowed their users to reach out far and beyond the confindes of compuserve.

Once we discovered what was really out there, we needed a way to save all the places we had visited. Commonly known as our Favourites but there was no means of sharing those favourites with friends and family. We would just save them to this folder you could access from withn your browser and at this point ‘Bookmarklets’ was not even mentioned. Then some clown had the bright idea of publishing their favourites on line as a directory – Internet Directory was borne. Teams of people would spend every hour publishing links to web pages they had visited. Nothing fancy here, just plain old text links and if by magic a wave of web sites would start appearing all over the internet with everyone linking to everyone else.

The only reason I want to mention this is that I recently found one of those internet directories that is being maintained by a retired librarian at Sylvia Milne’s Web Page
Now bare in mind here there was no Google at this point. Infact there was no internet search, well not as we know it so there had to be a way so that people/surfers could find a web site. Internet Directories were an ideal way of sharing information and links to other web sites.

But you know what, the Internet hasn’t really changed all that much. All we have done is paint flowers around it and made it a lot more techie. When it comes down to it search engine bots or spiders whatever, really are text link scrapers. Feeding off all those anchor text links that all those librarians have collated in the last 20 years or so. I rather like the idea that the internet was complied by a librarian cataloging all their library cards.

You can get a real sense of that in Sylvias write up here. Why not tell us about your own internet directory or even start one. Who knows you could be the next Yahoo.

For now take care.

Boilers Spares – Heating Spare Parts OK Yes we do supply spare parts for domestic appliances but it has come to our attention that we can and will now supply Boiler Spares.

If you are in the trade for boiler spares you will know this as Heating Spare Parts. The phrase used to identify the spare parts associated with boilers comes in many guises and from here on in we shall call them Boilers Spares – Heating Spare Parts.

Of course this will require the use of a specifc category to house all the boiler spares with in it. Some of the boiler manufacturers we will be covering is Variant, Baxi, Worcester or Bosch – they are one and the same. Other names are Chaffoteaux, Vokera and Ravenheat. If you have a particular requirement for boiler spares then you will be required to contact us directly.

Due to the nature of boilers spares – that is the gas component – we will not be giving out any advice on the repair of gas boilers. This type of work can only be carried out by suitably qualified people and my guess is that most people who come to our spare parts web site will not be that person. That is not so say we can’t supply you with the parts, we can. Just don’t ask any technical questions.

One thing I will point out here is, if you do need an installer, well a gas appliance installer that is then go register your interest at the Gas Installers web site. It is called OFTEC Registration Services.

Most modern day American style Fridge Freezers now use Fridge 1/4 inch water supply tube or pipe to supply water into the fridge. The water is then dispensed through the door at the front or by means of the ice making facility in some fridge freezer models.

The standard supply of tube size is 1/4 inch OD. What that means is the pipe has a one quarter of an inch outside diameter with a internal diameter of 0.170 inches which is approximatley 11/64 inch. Don’t ask me what that is in new money because if you need to ask then you are being mislead.

Let me explain. I know that most of us/you assume 1/4 inch is the same as 6mm. Well it’s not. I get called on the phone nearly everyday with people asking me for 6mm water tube for their fridge freezer. We do not sell or supply 6mm water tube.

Maybe we should sell 6mm pipe because we would sell an awful lot of it but we would be selling the wrong thing to our customer because what you really need is 1/4 inch tubing. If you want to do the math then 1/4 inch is equal to 6.35 mm. Water pipe fittings are supplied as imperial fittings as standard. The ISO standard for water pipe fittings is BSP – British Standard Pipe Thread or to be correct BSPT.

I know what you are going to say. my copper pipe in the kitchen is 15mm. Yes it is but water pipe is measured on the bore of the pipe and the British Standard cold water feed in you house is 1/2 inch on the bore. Due to manufacturing these now becomes 15mm OD. Now add on your pipe fitting to allow you to connect an external piece of equipment. You need a BSP pipe fitting. They are imperial fittings. We use John Guest fittings to connect your water supply to your fridge freezer. They are designed to take 1/4 inch OD tubing.

Now if we were to supply you with the 6mm tube you are so eager to buy, when you go to fit the tube to the fitting, you won’t get a tight fit to make the seal because the 6mm tube is 0.35mm smaller than the 1/4 inch fitting you are trying to connect to.

So think on the next time you call me or anyone for that matter, you have to ask for 1/4 inch OD tubing and not 6mm. I have a stock of 6mm tubing especially for those that ask for it but I won’t be giving you a warning to say that you may be making a purchasing blunder. You have been warned.

Of course if you hadn’t got to read my post on Fridge 1/4 inch water tube then you would never have known not to order it.

For those people I have made an allowance ;-}

Take care and thanks for listening.

Have you ever wondered why the dishwasher has stopped heating the water.

Well, things are not always what they seem. I once got asked ‘How to Test a Dishwasher Thermal Cut Out‘.

What was the thinking behind this question. Was this a misdiagnosis and that the customer was thinking they had a fault with one thing but in actual effect it was something else. This is what I call a leading question and I will try to answer it for you here.

Depending on the make and model of your dishwasher, you may have one or more devices that protect the appliance from over heating. That is a Thermal Cut Out or fuse and an NTC Device.

Although at first they would appear to be the same thing, they certainly don’t act the same. Lets have a picture.

Testing Dishwasher NTC components

Some dishwashers are fitted with a NTC (Negative Temperature Coefficient) device to sense the temperature of the water.

Variously known as Thermister, Sensor, Thermostat, Temperature Sensor, Temperature Probe, Probe Feeler – this device works by exhibiting an electrical resistance value which reduces with an increase in temperaure.

Simply put; if the water is hot the resitance value is low and if the water is cold the resistance value is high. All the machine has to do is figure out what the water temperature is by looking at the resistive value of the NTC.

The appliance control module is configured to compare the external resistive value of the NTC with internally pre-configured set-points. Depending on the resistive value of the NTC the module will provide the appropriate control function for the water heater.

How to test the NTC

For this you will need access to a multimeter.

1. Remove the NTC from the appliance.
2. Connect the NTC to the multimeter set to Ohms x1000 and note the reading. This should be in the order of 70 to 80kOhms(at 60 degs F).
3. Boil the kettle and fill a cup.
4. Place the body of the NTC into the cup of hot water – do not submerge it.
5. Note that the resistance value starts to change. Leave the NTC in the water for about 5 minutes because these devices have a long dwell time.
6. After about 5 minutes the NTC reading should have changed to approximately 90Ohms
7. Once you have obtained the readings place the NTC in some cold water; preferably with a couple of ice cubes; just to make sure the water temperature is is below ambient.

Why do I need to do this?
This allows the NTC to slowly restore to ambient temperature from a cooler place. By design the NTC is allowed to retain heat so that device does not cause the control module to keep switching the water heater on and off – called hunting. If you re-fit a warm NTC to the appliance and do a test run the appliance will think the water is still hot enough and the program will probably loose itself and not cycle correctly if at all. You will be led to believe that there is something else wrong with the appliance.

If your results compare favourably with the above test then the NTC is working correctly. If not it is likely the NTC is defective. This infomation is relative to Part Nos: 481228268051 – Temperature Sensor - and are available from our on line catalogue www.spare-parts-pro.com.

Note: Appliances that use an NTC can sometimes loose their way and the appliance will become stuck on a cycle. After testing the NTC run the machine in diagnostics mode to reset the program.

Changing a Hotpoint washing machine bearing is no different than changing any other washing machine bearings.
Things to consider before you attempt a bearing change.

You have the time it takes to make a bearing change. Your partner may not have the patience that you have.

Do you have the correct bearing for your appliance. – Guess what, I have built a appliance spare parts search facility to help you search by appliance make and model.

What about tools. Do you have enough of the correct tools in order to carry out a suitable washing machine bearing change. My favourite tool is the Ball Pane Hammer 2lb

Space you need lots of it. The kitchen floor is not always a suitable environment for starting your drum bearing change.

Spares and Repairs Colwyn Bay Conwy.

Although we do supply Spares and Repairs in and around Colwyn Bay North Wales it would appear that a certain individual is missing an oppurtunity to supply the community with spare parts. For now KUA Services shall take all the credit for this individuals slight oversight.

Talking of which, Yellow Pages made a huge mistake recently with the entry for KUA Services into the 2009 North Wales edition of the big yellow book.

With the sales persons egarness to sell off the available space to our little repair business, they failed to enter the correct business address and telephone number. Actually, they used the contact details from a previous entry into the yellow pages which was 4 years out of date.

Conciquently I haven’t had to pay for the entry circa 475.00 of our UK Pounds but means people are trying to reach us at our old telephone number.

The fact that I know how efficient Google is and the searching habits of my customers, I am going to guess that anybody searching for the telephone number 01492 58660 can now confidently reach me (Tony) on 01492 530627.

So with that said, if you do live in and around Conwy North Wales and you are looking for an expert in domestic appliance repair then you know where to come or at least call.

I must admit I am not a designer nor do I have an eye for colour coordination. Just the other night I got told off for wearing brown shoes with black trousers. So I need your help. Have you got an eye for design, layout and colour. I am having a logo designed for the new spare parts web site.

I hope to show it at the new spare parts web site www.spare-parts-pro.com

Before I do I need everyone to cast a cursory eye over the new design.

Go take look at http://99designs.com/contests/29888 and then come back and let me know what you think. We haven’t got long so I need you to do it today. How do you think this will fit in to our new site layout. What does the logo portray to you, has the designer got it right and what changes if any should we make.

Those that comment will get a discount token to use on their next purchase from the new site.

UpDate#

Competition is hotting up. We have had a good response from the design teams as I think they have done well. There are one or two howlers but you will always get that. I have also extended the competition to 12 days so that we can give moretime to the designers.

This means you get to vote a little longer and add your comments below. Oh! and the offer of a discount still stands. Just think, if you are in need of a new Bosch Fridge Freezer Water Filter in the next few weeks you will save your self a ton of money just by adding a comment. Wow!

When left with the thought of choosing Washing Machine Spare Parts some of you may be being left out in the cold.We know a lot of you are using google to eek out your quest for washing machine repair help but a lot of the time you are being let down.

OK we’re not naming names here but one spare parts supplier in particular is duping their customers into the belief that they are stocking all known spares. They know who they are. You my customers know who they are because you have told me. Well I’ll tell you, they don’t keep stock of spares, they are drop shipping. There is nothing wrong with that, we do it. But come on, tell your customer they will have to wait for the spare part to be delivered because you ain’t got it in stock.

Try it I dare you. Call them and place an order, then come back to us and place the same order. Call Tony on 01492530627 now and get up front genuine help and advice on choosing washing machine spares. We can tell you straight out how long it will take for you to get your part, if it is in stock and if not, the time to delivery. You will even get advice on how to affect your repair.

Apart from all that, we need to let you guys know that we have almost completed the data entry for the spare-parts-pro.com web site. The idea being that rather than scrolling through hundreds of washing machine spares, you only have to enter or select from three drop down boxes to reveal all associated spares parts to your particular washing machine.

It doesn’t have to be washing machines, it could be a dishwasher or cooker but you get the picture.

#################
My google optimised blatant link anchor text for washing machine spare parts is right here in side this box thing. Oh ye! How did the testing go, what results did you find?

Samsung Washing Machine Error Code Overview

SAMSUNG WASHING MACHINES, ERROR FUNCTIONS

When an error occurs, the alarm noise will sound and the error code displayed in the program window. Listed below is a series of error codes you may or may not see for your model of Samsng Washing Machine. The errors are shown as blinking in O.5 second intervals until the error status has cleared. In this case, all the driving devices are turned off until the error is cleared.

1. WATER SUPPLY ERROR – Display shows 4E.

Water Supply Error occurs when water level frequency does not show changes more than 100Hz or water is not supplied up to the preset water level after 10 Minutes or more at the time of initial water supply. The error status can be cleared by turning the POWER switch OFF and back ON.

2. WATER DRAIN ERROR – Display shows 5E.

5E is displayed if the water level frequency detected is 25 KHz or less in the initial phase of the UNB -detecting cycle. The Water Drain error can be cleared by turning POWER SW OFF and back ON.

3. OVER-FLOW ERROR – Display shows oE.

Over-Flow error occurs when the water level is too high. It can be cleared by turning POWER switch OFF. Water is drained prior to POWER switch OFF. The tub is drained for 2 minutes if a frequency of more than 25 KHz is detected.

4. UNBALANCE ERROR – Display shows UE.

Laundry load is unbalanced, manually loosen any tangled laundry.

If only one item of clothing needs washing, such as a bathrobe or jeans, the final spin result might be unsatisfactory and an UE error message will be shown in the display. Unbalance error is cleared by POWER switch OFF and back ON.

5. WATER HEATER ERROR – Display shows HE, HE1.

HE, HE1 is displayed if the water temperature rises by 7 C or more in 1 Min or by 2 C or less 20 Min after heating process has started. The error can be cleared by turning POWER switch OFF.

6. WATER PRESSURE SWITCH ERROR – Display shows 1 E.

* Generated Frequency Signal of WATER LEVEL (WIL) SIW (KHz)

Normal Level = Abnormal W/L Frequency
Low Level = 30.00 Khz
High Level = 15.00 Khz

If the same signal is detected for more than 5 seconds, it is a PRESSURE SWITCH Error. When this error occurs the drain pump will operate for 3 min. and the display will show 1 E indicating a pressure switch error.

7. ABNORMAL WATER TEMPERATURE ERROR- Display shows cE.

e.g. If the water temperature is 50 C or more, during a Delicate or Wool cycle.

At the time of initial water supply, if the water temperature is not appropriate, the display will show cE. This error can be cleared by POWER SWITCH OFF.

8. WATER LEAKAGE ERROR – Display shows 11 E.

Water Leakage error occurs when the water drains naturally, (by leakage) after the washing program starts.

9. THERMISTOR ERROR – Display shows tE.

This error occurs when the Thermistor circuit is abnormal or a voltage of O.2v or below or, 4.5v and over is detected. This error can be cleared by POWER switch OFF.

10. MOTOR RESTRICTION ERROR- Display shows 3E.

Hall Senior is sensed every SOOms. 1 second after motor starts to work.

If data of hall sensor is less than 2 (2RPM), the Washing motor will stop at once.

During Washing and Rinsing when a motor restriction is sensed, the motor stops and then proceeds to the next water -flow action. If the motor stops working and this happens in one direction ten times, “3E” Error is displayed.

During dehydrating. when a motor restriction is sensed. the motor stops working and then returns to the initial stage of the dehydration unbalance sensing cycle.

Using Fridge Freezer Water Filters is one way of providing a fresh and clean supply of water for all your day to day water intake needs.

Water and Water Filters

Some chemically intolerant people find they are sensitive to water that they drink in their daily lives, due to minute traces of chemicals and metals. For some people, it is simply enough to take care with water that they use for drinking and cooking. Other people, if they are highly sensitive, are affected by washing with, or touching tap water, some even by inhaling steam or vapours from standing or running water – a flushing lavatory, for instance.
Sensitivity of this nature is rare, however, and for most people, it will be sufficient to avoid ingesting the water that upsets them.

What Causes Reactions to Tap water?

Low levels of chemicals known to cause chemical sensitivity are found in tap water, as well as metals known or suspected of causing harm.
The regulations that govern water quality permit levels of chemicals which may not be Hazardous to your health. Chemically sensitive people are, however, affected by very low levels of chemicals, and those present in tap water are often sufficient to cause them reactions.

What you find in your drinking water vary quite considerably across the country, and even within the locality of water companies. This is partly because the level of industrial or agricultural contaminants leeching into the surrounding countryside and finding their way into the local water table. It is also because of the age and quality of water treatment plants and their associated pipe networks. You might happen to live in an locality with relatively new water processing stations and pipe networks, or with little or no industry, or with low fertiliser use in farming, then your potable water will contain lower levels of chemicals than that of other places.
Of course your water supply may come from groundwater drawn direct from springs and or boreholes. If this is the case then little or no filtration would be required.

Water that is drawn from lakes is subject to more pollution and needs greater sanitization, especially water from lowland rivers and reservoirs. The chemicals found in tap water which are predominantly associated with chemical sensitivity are: chlorine, nitrates, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, trihalomethanes, and organic solvents.

Aluminium, found naturally or added to purify water in some areas, is linked to some health problems and in the case of the older buildings, lead can be found sometimes in water pipes within the home and is known to be a health hazard.
Traces of other heavy metals are also found in drinking water – metals such as zinc. Metals like cadmium do not cause specific sensitivity reactions, but it is thought that digesting
Finding the right Water Filter for your needs is critical to your well being. Recent resource for all your Water Filter needs.

We get this asked all the time. How do I remove the oven door?

It’s actually quite difficult to explain this over the phone and I get asked this virtually on a daily basis. I mean, how do you explain what an hoofadoofa is and what the roundy bit on the twisty mode is. People naturally have their on interpretation of the names of the different parts are so it can get confusing, so lets have a picture.

Typical Oven Door Hinge

This is only an example of what a hinge might look like, this one is from a Hotpoint Cooker and yours might look completely different but the principle is the same.

Firstly open door fully and then place the metal clips, part B, which form part of the hinge arm, part A, onto the hook on the under side of the hinge arm, part C. Once you have done this you have then locked the hinges in position but be aware that the hinge springs are now fully loaded.

Now you can remove the door as illustrated in the second picture here. There are two movements here but you must hold the door by the sides. Do not hold the door by the handle because once the door is off the oven you will have the weight of the door on the handle, it will break off and your door will be in a thousand bits on the kitchen floor. I have no problem in supplying you with a new door but you don’t want to part with 100 quid at this stage.

While holding the door at the sides, lift it to 45 deg and then pull it towards you. You should now be able to safely remove the oven door.

Don’t you just hate that when it happens. Now your clothes are stuck inside your washing machine. Don’t be tempted to prise the door open just because Jonny’s boots are in there, it will cost you the price of a door latch mechanism, a door interlock or door handle. If the door interlock fails then this could keep you from openeing the door. Modern day washing machines have a door interlock that prevent the door from opening when the motor is still turning or when water is still in the drum of the machine.

Thing to do is remove the drain hose from the outlet stand pipe and bring it down to floor level so that the water can drain from the tub. If this is not an option, then remove the stopper from the drain pump filter at the base of the washing machine and let the water drain say onto a tray or soemthing similar. Aware that there is about a gallon and a half of water or 7 litres in new money. so it will require a couple of trips.

Draining the water releases the pressure switch activating on the door interlock, then the door can be opened. Do this while you send the misses out for more larger so you get to make as much mess as you like without getting an ear bashing. This isa tried and tested method.

The washing machine is very noisy.

Although difficult to describe, the noise you hear is probably down to worn bearings. The bearings will fail mainly due to the fact that the bearing seal has failed, water will then pass to the bearings and start to break down the lubricant.
With the back off your machine, remove the drive belt from the main motor and drum pulley. Spin the drum by hand. Is it lumpy and noisey. Have you any lateral movement of the drum when you try to lift it from the front of the drum.
Other things to consider is run up the motor while the belt is removed.

Does the drum turn or spin.

A washing machine has a motor that turns the drum. Depending on what make of model you have, it will be fitted with either a commutator motor (one that has carbon brushes) or an induction motor (a brushless motor).
On first inspection you may not be able to identify what motor you have. If you have never seen a carbon brush it might be worth checking out the pictures we have available listed under the relavent machine section or see sample motor carbon brushes.
If you suspect the motor failure, first check to see if you have a brush type motor. If so carefully remove the brush from the motor. Lots of carbon dust in and around the brushes may indicate excessive wear. Check the length of the carbon within the carbon brush holder. Anything less that 10mm then change them.

What is a washing machine error code?

Well, most modern day washing machines come equipped with a printed circuit board (PCB) that behaves like a small computer. This not only provides the program selection to operate the machine but has service information to help diagnose problems.

On your control panel facia, you may have and LED of LCD readout. During normal operation this will indicate the program selection or time to wash or even the temperature of your wash. In the event of a washing machine failure, this readout will show an error code.

If you look in the back of your user handbook you may see some examples of error codes and their meaning. Some manufacturers prefer not to divulge this information so you may have to refer to the appliance repair help blog you are now reading. We hope to bring some examples of washing machine error codes here but if your machine is not covered let us know and we may be able to help.

Some of the earlier washing machines didn’t use led / lcd readouts but and led lamps. The led lights signified an error code based on the sequence the lights where lit. They can be On, Off or Flashing.

As an example I am going to use Hotpoint WMA types of machine but only because it is one of the most popular models in the UK market.

FAULT DESCRIPTION A B C D
No Spin ON OFF OFF OFF

OK We all have a washing machine in our homes. Well nearly all of us, but at some point in our lives and not the washing machines, we may have to attempt to replace the bearings in our washing machine.

As an engineer I often get asked ‘How do I fit a Bearing in a Washing Machine?‘ by friends and family. So I figured and should show all you guys how I do it by writing this small article right here.

First things first. You have got to pick a good day on which you are going to attempt this. If you are new to this, you will have to give your self approximately 8 hours. In real time this is 2 days of anyones time. Hotpoint engineers can do this job in about 2 hours or so but this is not a race as we only want to do this the once.

I’m assuming you already have a decent tool kit otherwise you wouldn’t be attempting this washing machine bearing change. A decent screwdriver set, a few open ended spanners – 10mm, 13mm, 17mm, 19mm – and a decent hammer, a big one, no lets make that a really big one. As an apprentice engineer, brute force and ignorance was my biggest asset and it still carries to this day so don’t be afraid to use a big hammer.

We mentioned time didn’t we. We need to pick a day of the week and since most peoples free time is a weekend, lets pick a Saturday. That’s best because I work a Saturday and if you get stuck you can always give me a ring. The next thing to do is research the type of bearings you will need, so establish what the model number of your washing machine is by identifying the rating plate. Its on the inside of the door.

Once we know this either send me an email and I will identify the bearings for you or look them up in our spare parts catalog. Either way we need to know we can get the bearings and the drum seal before we attempt the repair.

Below I have included a drawing of a typical washing machine drum. This will help you identify the parts and aid your attempt and dismantling the washing machine.

As you well know, identifying Zanussi Washing Machine Motor Brushes is quite difficult because the manufacturer took it upon themselves to design a washing machine that was produced with different types of motor.

Electrolux, who are the people who own the brand for Zanussi amongst others, used three different types of motor. These are SOLE, FHP and CESET for washing machines and washer dryers with spin speeds between 650 rpm and 1600 rpm.

Each type of motor may have been alternatively fitted to the same machines during production but are perfectly interchangeable with each other. The only thing we need to know is, we fit the correct carbon brush set to the appropriate motor. Hopefully the table below will help in identifying your correct brush set.

Carbon Brush Table

If and only if you have correctly identified your zanussi parts would I suggest you get on over to our zanussi washing machine spares catalogue to see if your motor brushes are available.

The Refrigerator water filter is one way of ensuring that the water you drink from your refrigerator dispenser or even the ice cubes you use are pure. What I mean by that is the water you use from the refrigerator has been cleaned of the heavy deposits and odours.

Refrigerator water filters are designed for use in refrigerators with ice-makers or dispensing water through the door. These water filters systems are fitted by way of a water line that runs from your plumbing or mains supply to your refrigerator where the water is then filtered and cooled, the refrigerated water you have filtered is usually used mainly for drinking water only.

Water filters for Refrigerators are normally located either inside the fridge or at the bottom of the unit inside the grill, or even at the top of the refrigerator. The in-line Refrigerator water filter is designed for use on refrigerators with icemaker and/or water dispensers and is a small activated charcoal filter designed to filter out certain solids and chemicals from your water source before the water gets to your water dispenser or ice maker. Carbon is the main substance utilized in water filtration processes as it has the potential of absorbing a lot of the contaminants found in water.

Although many refrigerators are designed with a built-in water filter, any refrigerator that has an ice-maker or water dispenser on the door can be outfitted with a water filter. In additions to refrigerators, this type of water filter can be used in conjunction with water fountains, ice machines, commercial coffee makers or water coolers. Built-in refrigerator water filters are becoming increasingly popular, and most of the major makers of refrigerators, such as Frigidaire, GE, Whirlpool, Kenmore, Sears, Samsung, and LG, offer these types.

Using a water filter is one way of ensuring that the water you drink from your refrigerator dispenser or even the ice cubes you use are pure. The water filters guarantee safe clean great tasting drinking water and ice making. Many makes of modern refrigerators have built-in filtering systems that help make crystal clear ice and water from door dispensers. Fridge water filters are made to mount on a plumbed refrigerator and provide filtration for drinking water and ice from your refrigerator.

When your Dishwasher will not continue the cycle - Who ya gonna call - The Dishwasher Repair Man that's who.

Your dishwasher, when correctly installed, can give you years of uninterrupted hassle free washing and cleaning. Then one day you go to switch on your trusty dishwasher and nothing happens.

What’s the first thing you going to do to fix this annoyance. Well I guess you might find the answer right here on the appliance repair help site but don’t reach for the phone book just yet because this might be something you can fix your self.

I’ll explain. Modern day dishwashers like those manufactured by Bosch and you can include Siemens and Neff in that have a built in safety feature protecting the dishwasher against flooding. The technical term is ‘Anti Flood Device’. There are other manufacturers who provide the same features but for now I’m only going to talk about the Bosch type machines.

In the base of the dishwasher in the plinth there is a float switch. This is your ‘Anti Flood Device’. In the event of your dishwasher over filling, the plinth fills with water, the float rises and actuates the switch. On a Bosch dishwasher this switch will do two things.

Firstly, it will send a signal to the programmer device to notify there is a fault and output a message in the form of a code to some sort of display.

Secondly, the pressure switch acts as the water level indicator for the sump of the dishwasher so when the water level rises the pressure switch will activate the drain pump.

So before you consider throwing good money at new dishwasher, try doing a bit of fault finding your self and you might save yourself a ton of money.

Just a quick update to this ‘Dishwasher will not continue the cycle’ article. There appears to be a common thread in the comments below. Most faults can be referred to the fact that the Anti Flood Overflow device has activated. I have included an image here to show what the anti flood may look like in a Bosch SGS69A02GB/20.

Levels are fairly standard measuring tools which no do-it-yourselfer ought to be without. When used with a carpenter’s square, this tool can help make certain that cupboards, shelving and doorjambs are square and ergo functional. The most well-known form of level has been the carpenter’s level which has three marked vials; a center vial for establishing level as well as a couple of end vials for establishing plumb. You could find other, more job-specific levels made for certain purposes, and we will additionally review a couple of those. If you haven’t bought a level yet, or you would like another one, let’s take some time to consider what is currently sold in stores today. Be sure to check out the multiple types of Husky Air Compressors.

As previously explained, the most often-used level is an everyday carpenter’s level. Stanley‘s Fat Max level is the industry standard these days for this type of level. The Fat Max is available in sizes varying between 16-inches to as large as 6 feet, and are made as magnetized and lighted levels too. All Fat Max levels come with non-marking end bumpers, rubber-edged hand holes as well as a mounting hole for convenient storage. Even though shorter levels are less expensive and easier to fit in close situations, you will want to always rely on the longest level at hand for each activity to be sure of the best accuracy. Another good type are the Air Compressor Oil.

Post levels are typically employed when setting fence posts to ensure that each post is both level and plumb. Post levels generally look a bit like a corner bracket that uses a vertical vial on the outer corner combined with one horizontal vial on each wing. This sort of level is banded to one corner of your} fencepost with a rubber loop or chain, which most often is attached to the level.

Johnson Level & Tool manufactures a heavy duty, easily read post level with a high-impact plastic body which uses a built-in rubber strap to hook on to the post. Kapro makes a magnetic type of a post level which also folds around a central hinge for use on pipes or odd-shaped poles. The Kapro level additionally folds flat for regular storage.

The levels examined so far are useful for establishing that a line is level or plumb. However, occasionally you don’t want a beam to be straight, but you would like it have a consistent slope. An electronic level is made to help for that. Electronic levels produce digital readouts enabling you to establish angles which are measured to within a tenth of a degree. Macklanburg-Duncan’s Smart Tool collection of electronic levels offers push-button calibration in addition to an audio cue which alerts you when the right measurement is reached.

The highest quality nails, drills and eyeballs in the world will not be certain that your closet frame is square or that your door is hung properly. Buy yourself a well-made level now and you will be able to enjoy your properly finished wood projects for years to come.

The last time I went out to purchase kitchen cabinets it was a actual hard task. What I don’t like in specific are the salesmen who seem to become truly pushy.

Now it’s a lengthy time since I visited a kitchen showroom but someone I know went just last week and confirmed my worst fears, they haven’t altered!

You have various methods of purchasing a kitchen today, the traditional and likely most annoying way is to visit a specialist shop. This is probably one of the most expensive choices of all.

The other alternative would be to call a kitchen planner who will come to your house, measure up and plan your kitchen with you. Be prepared to have a pushy salesman who won’t depart should you go down this route though, it does occur as these guys are so hung up on making a bonus.

You can decide to go to the nearby house superstore, these places carry a fair variety of kitchens to suit various budgets. If you do go down this route be alert to the kitchen planners who are all to ready to get you by their desk so that they can start designing with you. These guys won’t be keen on you leaving without making a sale.

Perhaps an overlooked option in all of this is for you to do the job yourself and conserve yourself a ton of cash.

Certainly you have to decide if you will be capable of this. You probably wouldn’t wish to look at this choice unless you’re pretty great at Diy. Perhaps you don’t think you are able to do all of these functions yourself, so why not plan it out your self and then you can look up on the web for kitchen costs and conserve a big amount of cash.

The first thing to do is have a look on the internet to find out how you can design a kitchen, there is a thing called the working circle where you work between your sink, fridge, work surface and hob, look it up and you will see what I mean. As soon as you know how you can plan it there are online planners There’s just a little bit of know how needed when planning a kitchen so pull up your favourite search engine and get searching, as soon as you know what you are doing you will also discover planning providers on the internet where you are able to plan your kitchen out to scale.

Even should you decide to go to the showroom in the long run at least you’ll have armed yourself with some knowledge and idea of what you actually want rather than being told by the planners. For those who have gone ahead and designed your kitchen you’re now in a position to produce a list of all of the pieces that you require.

I changed the kitchen around for my mother once and as she didn’t want to invest too much we just changed the Kitchen Unit Doors this looked like a new kitchen but didn’t cost nearly as much.

The material list you created earlier may now be used to go and get some costs, you are able to use brochures from the shops or you are able to look on the internet. Browse on the internet for your local stores, if they are big chains they’ll have web sites where you are able to look at a vast range of Cheap Kitchen Units readily. You will also find a wealth of other purchase options by searching within the search engines. There are lots of companies out there selling kitchens, some are specialist and some sell just about anything so look about for the greatest deal.

The web is full of Cheap Kitchens and all you have to do is give a little time up to search about, good luck with discovering that stunning new kitchen.

what is the current in an electric dryer?

The heating element of an electric dryer is rated @ 4.1kw when connected to a 240V line. What is the current in the heating element?
b) @11 cents per kWhr, how much does it cost per hr to operate the dryer?
thanks! i really just need to know the current in the heating element

4.1 times 11¢ or 45¢ an hour.

If your electric dryer stops working, don’t immediately go out and buy a new one. First, do a simple diagnosis and you may save yourself a lot of money.

What to check if your dryer stops working:

* This may sound like a no-brainer, but check to make sure the electrical cord is plugged in securely. Depending on where the outlet is and what is surrounding the outlet (such as pets roaming around), the plug can ease out enough to cause the dryer not to work. Also, check to make sure the cord isn’t damaged in any way.

* Check the breaker box to make sure a breaker hasn’t tripped. If a breaker has tripped, turn it to the on position and see if the dryer is working. If the dryer keeps tripping the breaker, you need to find out why for safety reasons.

* Make sure the filter to the dryer is clean. Cleaning the filter regularly is crucial to allow adequate air flow. Even if the filter looks clean, do a test. Run water over the filter. If it doesn’t flow through easily, the filter needs a good cleaning until water runs freely. Be sure the lint filter is dry before placing back in dryer.

* Unplug the dryer from the electrical outlet and check for lint build up in the vent hose and any other areas that collect lint. Even if you clean your lint filter, there can be an accumulation of lint in other areas of your dryer and the hose. This can block air flow and cause your dryer to overheat. There are special tools to help with this cleaning process.

* Check the door switch on the dryer. A dryer door has to be closed properly to work. These switches are known to go bad and can be replaced.

* If you’ve checked all of the above and the dryer still isn’t working, remove the control panel cover. Of course, the dryer should be unplugged from the electrical outlet first. Look for any corroded or burned terminals. This can be a clue as to what is causing your dryer not to work. The start switch, thermostat and timer are located in the control panel. If any terminals to one or more of these looks burned or corroded, they will need to be replaced.

By learning about the parts and function of an electric dryer, you can save a lot of money. Instead of buying a new dryer, it’s possible the problem is very simple or only a part may need to be replaced. At the very least, you can weigh the difference in what it will cost to buy a new dryer versus repairing your current dryer.

Always use the utmost caution when working with an electrical appliance. Be sure to unplug from the outlet before diagnosing a problem.

Installing Outdoor Kitchen Cabinets – Your Complete Guide

If you plan to add an efficient new space in your home with a small budget, it’s important to learn about the techniques in proficiently organizing things and installing outdoor kitchen cabinets. This is very imperative if your family finds pleasure in cooking, eating, and spending quality time outside the house. An outdoor kitchen and functional cabinetries will definitely make your family bonding exceptional.

Outdoor Kitchen Space

The placement is critical in adding cabinets because they have a significant impact to the appearance of your home and the garden or yard. It is essential to construct an outdoor kitchen that is both purposeful and can integrate exquisiteness to your residential property. Many people go for outdoor kitchens that are built close to their homes. While this grants them convenience and easy access to the outdoor kitchen, it requires good kitchen styling to match the current theme of the house.

Flooring

Make sure that the flooring can support the weight of your chosen cabinets. Otherwise, you will need to shop for a flooring material such as flagstone or concrete. The floor of the outdoor kitchen should be created around extra electrical, water, and gas lines. The position of the cabinets, sinks, appliances, refrigerator, and other items must be considered ahead of time.

Kitchen Cabinets

The placement of the outdoor kitchen cabinets should be a good distance from the grill, stove, or the oven. This is very important if your cabinets are created from wood. It’s most beneficial to get metal kitchen cabinets, because this material is not prone to fire, quite easy to clean, and can endure several weather conditions.

The primary function of your cabinetries is not only for storing your kitchen tools, but also as a device to effectively structure the kitchen.

If anyone could tell you that you can make your kitchen more functional, you’d probably say it isn’t possible. But, it truly is. The trick is to find appliances and ways to use the various space in the kitchen to their fullest capacity.

Aside from the small appliances, keeping things that you need on a regular basis very close at hand is important. That’s why it’s important to invest in a good knife block set.

For example, a Henckels knife set is one worth looking at. What you want is a product that will last a long time and always a good. But, many of us don’t want only good service, we also want something that is aesthetically pleasing. Let’s face it, usually this item sits on the counter and should look good. Aside from that, you’ll find that your meal preparation will be quicker and smoother than ever before because you’ll be able to reach for various knives in an instant.

Small appliances that exist on the market are something that must be looked at very seriously. They will make life easier on you when it comes to meal preparation. So, you won’t have to stick to the easiest meals because you don’t have time. In fact, you’ll be able to experiment with more complex recipes when you use them accordingly.

For example, an electric hand mixer. No kitchen should be without one. Instead of sitting there and mixing manually, you can save precious time with this appliance. Meal preparation is all about having all the right ingredients, the right tools, and being organized. Once you have all these, you’ll be able to create incredible meals for your family and your guests.

It’s unfortunate that some people just don’t take advantage of the right tools. They think that many of them are just gadgets that are quite unnecessary. Unfortunately, it is quite the contrary. In this day and age, time is something that many of us just don’t have because we are out on the workforce. Other reasons for cutting time required to prepare meals is because we have grown as a society. We no longer are satisfied with the simple things, and we want to be able to spend every moment of our time in ways that we want to, instead of being locked away in the kitchen.

Therefore, it is time that you rethink your kitchen space and all your appliances and tools. Be honest in your assessment of all of them, purging those that are not necessary or that are not good quality. Replace those with the essentials and make sure that they are good products. Avoid cheap and flimsy ones which will only need replacement soon after. Although the good-quality ones are more expensive, they’ll last a lifetime.

The toilet is one of the many usual places where plumbing fixes happen, because it’s used a lot. It’s rare for home owners not to have issues. Many are do it yourself or otherwise you need to get in touch with a professional plumbing contractor. Exactly how many times have you failed to fix a problem that time after time annoys you? In this write-up, we are going to discuss usual issues which may bother you as well as determine the key problem that causes it.

In the event that you would like to do it yourself, it is important to understand exactly how mechanics of how the toilet system functions.

Flush issues

The very first thing to see is whether the water supply is on. Flush issue occurs when there are obstacles in the flush tank. Changing the valve will most likely resolve it. You do not even have to use a expert; the valve wears out with time and may well need a replacement. Try tightening the handle, because it could have become loose and the problem is resolved!

Overflow

Your flush tank may flood when a lever or flush ball is worn out. The sign which dictates this difficulty will be the circulation of water while you leave the flush handle, you still hear sounds after you flush. Still an additional trigger with regard to this is ruined refill valve. Looking at the condition of it will let you to determine whether to replace it or thoroughly clean it.

Leaking tanks

Often it’s the actual toilet which is the issue. One source which can trigger this is loose mounting bolts and tightening them could eliminate the issue. One serious thing that can happen is a crack in the tank, that needs to be replaced.

Water flowing non stop

The main method to be able to fix this is to reposition the float ball, as it could get positioned a little higher. Simply just changing the placement could resolve the problem. When your toilet comes with water intake assembly, adjusting the clip attached to the rod will lower the water level. In the event that you cannot repair it yourself, then you might need help of a plumbing contractor in your area.

Water leaks through handle and flush valve

In the event you come across water leakages coming from the handle, one solution might be to reposition the flush ball. As the flush ball may be higher and hence water leaks take place. A crack on the flush could as well cause release of water. The only solution for this is replacement of the valve.

Moisture build-up or condensation of the tank

Cold weather conditions is the main reason of this problem. So try adding some padding, as it usually helps lessen risk of moisture build-up or condensation. You could purchase an insulation kit from the store and it’s very simple to set it in.

The above described popular toilet repair problems will be able to help you to prevent pricey repairs, and even though a whole lot can get done by yourself, if you want to get in touch with an Atlanta plumber, call 888-679-5799 and get top rates from several pre-screened plumbing Atlanta Ga contractors.

A lot of people will find that they have to pay strict attention to their buying habits due to the present status of the worldwide economic system. One of the things that has recently been influenced significantly is the cost of electricity payments because electricity costs have been soaring ever greater. As a result many people all over the planet are taking a major curiosity about building their own personal DIY solar panels for home use. They can be a cheap substitute for steeply-priced commercially made solar power panels which might be above the monetary reach of most families.

Very few people would likely look at paying out in the region of $30,000 for getting a professional solar system fitted in their property. But when they find out that it is relatively affordable and straightforward to make their own personal DIY solar panels for home use they will very often will acquire an interest in solar energizing their household. The info that informs you how to locate the materials which you are required and how to make and install the solar energy panels can be purchased on the Internet via products like Earth4Energy.

DIY solar panels are simple and easy to build and install and do not need any carpentry or electrician’s abilities. Solar panels are not as efficient during overcast weather conditions or at night time therefore any kind of residential solar energy system entails the installation of deep cell storage batteries. These will make sure that enough power is available when required. How powerful your solar energy system will likely be relies on factors like the quantity of panels you decide to build and how much sunlight you can expect to receive. Geographic location isn’t as huge a factor perhaps you might think as solar energy systems may be successfully installed almost anywhere around the planet. You may perhaps need additional solar energy panels and battery packs if you resided somewhere cooler, but it really shouldn’t be a sufficient concern to reject utilizing solar power.

The Earth4Energy product that was mentioned earlier on assumes no special know-how and plainly explains all you need to understand using clearly highlighted instructions and training videos. Each of the components should be locally for sale in hardware stores. An individual solar panel could very well be built with a couple of days labor and you may continue constructing more to meet more of your current power requirements.

Do it yourself solar panels for use at home are the most affordable method of becoming electricity self sufficient or at least meeting a lot of your electric power demands. You could begin to see the financial results very soon because you would not have invested anywhere close to the price of commercial residential solar panels that could take a decade or even more to recover their original investment. As well as the environmental benefits and monetary savings you won’t have to worry about power outages. Do it yourself solar panels for home use will also be a great way to raise the worth of your house should you choose to sell.

The effectiveness of a household solar energy system may be enhanced further by additionally building your own wind mill. Providing you have ample wind that is. These can be made for roughly a similar price of a solar panel. When making the solar panel and wind generator designs in Earth4Energy you should be able to find the components you need for less than $200 for each solar panel or wind mill.

Inside all air conditioning units is a chemical called a refrigerant. The refrigerant changes to different states (low pressure gas, high pressure gas, low pressure liquid and high pressure liquid) as the air conditioning unit is being used. If an air conditioning does not have enough refrigerant, or the refrigerant has been contaminated, then it will not function properly. It is therefore important to check for leaks in an air conditioning unit from which this chemical can escape. Cleaning the filter of your air conditioner is something that you should do on a monthly basis. This is no big hassle as it will take you just 5 or 10 minutes. The filter on central air conditioning units can be found on the top or bottom of the unit, and the filter on the window type air conditioning units can be found somewhere near the intake of the unit. You can always check the manual that came with your air conditioner if you are struggling to locate the filter. It is important to switch off your air conditioning at the main circuit breaker before attempting to take out the filter. Having removed it, you should let it soak in warm, soapy water for 5 to 10 minutes, and then leave it to one side to dry out. If you put it back in the air conditioning unit before it has fully dried out then it is possible that mold may build up on it. For window type air conditioning unit filters, you can also use a vacuum cleaner on it. It is advisable to hire a qualified technician for extra air conditioning maintenance every twelve to eighteen months, as they can give you a better idea about the efficiency levels of your unit and what work needs doing to enable it to operate more effectively. This could be either in the form of cleaning the mechanical parts of the compressor system, or re-gassing the refrigerant. This should not be too costly, and it will certainly cost you less than having to buy a whole new air conditioner due to not properly maintaining your current one.

Installing a wind power generator is a great way to make the most of a source of energy that will never rise above its current price – it’s free – or run out. Thanks to improvements in technology, today’s wind turbines are more efficient and effective than ever, and this is why they’re becoming a more widely used solution to the energy issues of everyday homeowners.

Modern wind generators come in a variety of different styles and sizes, in order to satisfy a wide variety of specifications. Since they were originally introduced, wind turbines have become markedly more versatile and effective. In the early days of commercially available wind turbines, a homeowner would need to have a lot of available property in order be able to even entertain the idea of installing a wind turbine, as their blades were so large. Even purpose-built residential-use wind turbines were really nothing more than scaled-down adaptations of commercial models, and as such they weren’t really all that appropriate for use in residential areas. They could be very expensive to install, particularly because they almost always needed to be mounted on towers in order to experience winds high enough to turn their heavy blades. Owners also needed to be certain that the turbines were oriented properly. Certain turbines had tail rudders, which theoretically could be used to align the turbines correctly. Rotating the tail rudders into position also required strong winds in most cases, though. Although they worked well when all the conditions were satisfied, these early turbines were not ideal for residential environments because of all of these difficulties.

In the last decade, though, wind turbine designs have been introduced which can provide significant amounts of power even with light winds, and as such are appropriate for use in residential areas. Also, since they’re smaller and lighter, they even rotate into position much more quickly. Vertical axis turbines don’t even need to be aligned at all, as they are able to rotate regardless of the direction of the wind. Perhaps most importantly, modern wind turbine designs offer a great ratio of power generated to cost. Do you want to know the price range of the different types of wind turbines? You can go to wind turbines cost for futher information.

Homeowners now have the opportunity to make use of wind turbines which they can mount on the roof of their home. These turbines eliminate the previously necessary additional cost of setting up a tall tower. These turbines continue to spin even in light wind, providing a constant stream of energy. This consistency of output is also ideal for residential applications. The quiet operation of these small wind turbines is also appreciated by homeowners (and their neighbors). The bottom line is that current wind turbines offer power affordably and consistently.

Do you want to build your own wind generator? It is quite possible to build your own wind generator if you have a good set of wind generator plans. For the best guides I have found for building your own wind generators with step by step videos, go to Wind Generator Plans.

Here’s another guide to building your own wind generator How to Make a Wind Generator.

A projector alarm clock is likewise recognised as the ceiling clock. It is generally an analog or a digital clock built with a built-in projector that will creates an enlarged graphic of face of the clock on virtually any appropriate projection area or screen, which is invariably the ceiling of the room. These are not incredibly complicated and is usually built by hobbyists.

Advantages of projection clocks

The benefit of the projector alarm clock is the fact that it could be set up wherever, even areas hard to install traditional clocks on. They can be shifted quickly based on the projector utilized. The picture projected may be in monochrome or color. The actual graphic generated by the majority of projection clocks is big enough for a nearsighted person to quickly see from a distance. A regular clock of equivalent dimensions with the projected graphic would be expensive and not practical.

Projector clocks are also utilized in advertising. High-brightness analog projector clocks can be utilised to superimpose a company logo on the clock face, although there are low-brightness projection clocks designed for sports fans to project a favorite sports star or logo in addition towards the time. Projection clocks, like other clocks in the analog period, had been commonly analog. With the widespread adoption of digital clocks, digital projection clocks appear to have become the popular selection for several.

How it works

A projector alarm clock, almost in most cases needs some form of the backlight. Clock displays don’t radiate their own light. Several lighting technologies may be utilized to generate luminance to aid the projection in the face on the clock on to a screen or surface. These techniques can range from incandescent bulbs to LEDs. Projector clocks are divided into two groups, low-brightness and high-brightness projection clocks. The graphic created by low-brightness projection clocks is usually viewed only in a darkened room, even though high-brightness ones produce an graphic that may be viewed even in lighted rooms, but consume much more power.

Precautions

Most projector clocks draw their power from the mains from the house. Some also use other potentially dangerous technologies for example halogen bulbs and lasers. Halogen bulbs produce extremely high degrees of heat and can lead to fires if not kept away from incandescent materials and can even explode if exposed suddenly to cold air. Lasers one the other hand can bring about blindness id directed into the naked eye. So care ought to be observed when dealing with excessive energy projector clocks.

Try these simple steps to solving dishwasher problems. You’ll be supprised how easy it is to correct some common dishwasher problems.
Look at this list, then check the adjacent suggestions. They may give the answer to your problem without having to telephone your Service office.

Problem Actions
It will not start or fill… Is the machine plugged in and switched on at the socket?
Is the door securely closed and latched?
Is the socket OK? Try another appliance in the socket. Are the fuses in the machine plug and the fuse box OK?
if not, replace it.
Is the water turned fully on and the hose not kinked?
Have you selected a programme and switched on?
Iis the filter fitted in the water inlet hose OK?
It will not pump out the water… Is the hose kinked?
If you have connected to a sink waste pipe, is the spigot
blocked?
Are the filters blocked?
The machine is leaking… Is the inlet hose firmly attached to the water supply?
• if your machine is not permanently plumbed in; did you empty the hose into a bucket after disconnecting from the tap?
• if your machine is permanently plumbed in; is the standpipe at
the correct height, and/s it the correct bore?
• Could it be condensation from the wall?
It keeps stopping and making clicking noises.. • Do not worry. the timer is working and selecting the next
operation, and there are also pauses whilst the water heats up.

Specks of food particles Remove and clean filter jets

what makes the plaques in wall mount gas heater go bad?

for some reason my wall mount gas heater has a horried odor, the plaques are blue instead of a reddish glow. Do I need new plaques .

They can get dirty. I took my heater to a air compressor and sprayed them. two of three are now ok. I asked the guys at work who replaced several today how they worked and all they had to say is they get dirty and if there is some obstruction it prevents them working right. also some of ours had gotten broken and had to be replaced.

Atlanta, GA – Wall Control, located just east of Atlanta Georgia has solved a common household problem, pegboard storage. For years the only option for tool storage and organization was the same old perforated pressboard that has been around for decades. The problem is that traditional pressboard panels can warp, crack, fray and absorb moisture rendering them unattractive and ineffective. Wall Control, has developed a new all steel pegboard panel that incorporates a very secure hook and shelving system. These durable steel panels are available in a variety of attractive powder-coated colors.

Wall Control’s metal pegboard panels solve five key wall mounted storage problems; Durability, Strength, Versatility, Ease of Installation, and Attractive Appearance

Durability Wall Control’s strong metal panel prevents the pegboard holes from fraying and wearing out over time. Traditional pegboard panels quickly wear out with use and eventually the pegboard hooks will no longer stay engaged in their peg hole, falling out when the tool is removed. Our panel face, manufactured from 20 gauge steel ensures that Wall Control’s system will last many times longer than traditional pegboard products.

Strength Traditional pegboard is weak by nature of the material it is made from. The strength of steel combined with a formed flange around the perimeter make Wall Control’s metal pegboard panels over 10 times stronger than conventional pegboard. More strength equals more storage.

Versatility Wall Control’s unique Combo style panels allow the user the option of utilizing traditional pegboard hooks as well as our own patented, much more secure, “double offset” hook and slot design. Engineered for both secure engagement and ease of movement, Wall Control’s Hooks, Brackets, Shelves and Accessories will install easily and stay put. The versatility of these storage panels is also highlighted by the all-steel shelving system that Wall Control panels support. At last there is a pegboard system that has the ability to support substantial weight on a matching, integrated shelving system.

Ease of installation Ease of installation was a key criterion during the design phase of this pegboard system. Manufactured with a built-in flange on all four sides, the Wall Control storage panel requires no pre-built framework and mounts directly to any flat surface. The flange spaces the panel’s perforated face away from the wall so that the hooks, brackets, and shelves will engage with no wasted area. The convenient 16”x 32” standard size and modular design make it is easy to handle and a snap to install.

Attractive Appearance Available in eight durable, scratch resistant, powder-coated colors, Wall Control Storage Systems truly are suitable for use in any room in the house. The baked-on finish resists stains and wipes clean. Wall Control Storage Systems are at home in the kitchen as well as the garage.

Nearly all Washing Machines have a standard method of operation. Understanding how they work is not beyond most peoples capabilities:

Throughout the washing machine blog pages we have compiled basic tips and advice on fault finding and conducting DIY washing machine repairs.
The information is no where near exhaustive and you are welcome to email your ten penneth worth.
Always seek professional advice on attempting any electrical repair. Any help on these web pages is for information only and the usual common law disclosures apply.

When trying to diagnose a fault its quite difficult to know where to start but once you have a basic understanding of the various washing machine parts it’s quite simple to affect a simple repair. One of the first things that can be over looked is the Pressure Switch.

Pressure Switch (water level switch)

Before we get started on looking at your pressure switch, have you unplugged or isolated your machine from the fuse box or consumer panel.

Oh! did I mention, you need to isolate the machine from the fuse box.

The pressure switch or water level switch is used to measure the level of water in the washing machine drum.
This is achieved by the passage of air through a small rubber hose attached at one end to the base of the drum and at the other through a nipple on the switch. The hose being filled with air. When water begins to fill in the drum it also enters the hose. As the water level rises inside the drum, it pushes on the air trapped inside the hose and increases the air pressure. When the air pressure reaches a predefined level, it pushes on a diaphragm inside the switch.
Think of Boyles Law with pressure and volume and you can see how effective this is.

Have you ever Learned How to Ride a Unicycle. No me neither but you know what it really does look like fun.
There I was sitting on the sea front minding my own business when these two guys came ambling along.
I had my trusty iPhone with me so it was an easy snap.
Every other weekend or so I make my way down to the sea front at Rhos on Sea and sit at the corner cafe and have a Bacon and Egg Butty and a milky coffee. This one morning these two blokes came cycling along the prom straight into my view.
In the picture here you can see the view across the bay. There is nowhere better when the sun shines.
Anyway, as I was bimbling on my phone I couldn’t help but take this snap. I hope the two blokes in the picture don’t mind but it got me to thinking. How far has this been explored on the internet and has anybody decided to use it in a niche. I intend to investigate this over the coming months to if there is any mileage in it and lets post some results up to see if there are any takers.

Finding mold in houses is very necessary, and if left to fester, it can pose extreme well being risks to individuals exposed to it. Mold is often a fungus that thrives on stagnant dampness. If you do have black mold in your basement , it is necessary to call a business that handles mold removal tasks.

The characteristics of mold differ significantly, as there are various diverse kinds. Look smart, it generally calls for on the fuzzy, velvety, or cotton-like kind having a rotten garbage, putrid, or sour odor. Nonetheless, you can find selected types of mold that will be odor free plus may possibly mixture into the color of its surroundings, for that reason, challenging to find. Also, if you ever encounter the regular need to clear your throat, nasal blockage or flu symptoms, detecting mold in your house could possibly be needed.

If the air as part of your residence is excessively humid, this will likely bring about overall wetness assemble up – a haven for mold spores to multiply. These spores can infiltrate through any open portal as part of your house this sort of as doorways, vents, and windows. Even pets can carry these mold spores in, or the folks inside your dwelling, by way of their clothes.

There’s a higher possibility for mold to exist within your basement if you could have encountered flooding or even the bursting of pipes. Remain vigilant of water stains for the walls or ceiling, or an overall damp sensation. Starting with the lowest lying places inside your home, lift a tiny piece of carpet and analyze it for signs of mold. Examining behind or close to inconspicuous wall cavities might also uncover a mold problem with your home. Detecting mold in properties can even be achieved by house mold detection kits. These are generally available in most hardware or superstores for self-testing.

Taking preventative measures would be the most successful approach to ward off a mold infestation with your residence. AC units and heat furnaces should be cleaned and maintained persistently to reduce water leakage and moisture develop up. Usually do not neglect an outbreak in the event you find mold inside your residence. Do almost everything achievable to handle dampness. The moment an object or area have been impacted by mold, it’s greatest to replace it.

As you well know, we upgraded our web site recently that now uses Actinic Business v8.

The transition was quite easy really that didn’t cause to much of a headache. The new v8 Actinic comes with an import facility that allows older versions of Actinic to be imported into the new package. This way there is no need to completely rebuild your catalogue and is a straight forward process until – all the mods you applied to your old design may not have filtered through as you might expect.

I’ll tell you something for nothing, new v8 = new web site design. You just spent a whole bunch of money on this software and you want to introduce all the dead wood into your online catalogue. NO! Out with old in with the new. Stick your neck out here and start from scratch. OK Its going to take hours days and weeks to complete but it will be worth it in the end. You will reap the rewards of all your hard work, I guarantee it.

Simple bit of trickery with a spreadsheet and you can have all your original file names poured straight into your new database, so all the pages that have been indexed by Google will still be relevant when you upload the new site. Later on we are going to talk about the little snippits I have found as work arounds in getting your pages up and running.

For now its TTFN

After great deliberation, we finally did it. We’ve now added the washing machine repair help blog for our appliance spare parts community.

Back in the days of yore, the keepingupappliances web site had a repair section that had hints and tips on repairing and maintaining washing machines. This was a mammoth task to keep updated because each page was manually edited in our trusty html editor. More about that later.

Although those repair help pages are still being indexed by Google, we never bothered updating them to the new web design layout. All the articles that were written way back when are now going to be written into this blog.

If you really need to know why we are doing this, then it will be explained in a separate category that we are going to dedicate to web development. You see we have learnt a lot about web development over the years and its changed so much, it’s barely recognisable from when we kick started this web site approximately 7 years ago.

For now, in the grand old tradition of web design, this is my first ‘Hello World’ blog page.

The notion that landscaping involves only the incorporation of trees and shrubs into the setting of your front yard or backyard is wrong; landscaping also has to do with the construction of walls and fences that frame and further beautify the house.Concrete landscaping is a landscaping plan that allows the owner of the home as much freedom as he or she wants in the design because it offers a variety of shapes, sizes and colors of concrete bricks or stones that can represent the personality of the home owner.

Whether you want to layer your garden, re-do your frontyard or have a make over done for your backyard, landscaping is the perfect answer. In a bid to save time and money, for example, home owners sometimes use clover to landscape their frontyard instead of grass because clover does not require constant mowing like grass does.

It could also be worth investigating doing something special for the garden if you are determined to make a really thorough job of the project and get some shed designs online that will enable you to also build your own unique shed with DIY Plans For Sheds that you can either have made (very expensive) or customise yourself by compiling a variety of different shed plans into a single design that is tailored to your homes landscape.

You must know that the decision to landscape your home is not one that is taken spontaneously…..there is a need for you to find out about things such as zoning restrictions which may demand that you don’t use walls and fences, or that you don’t plant tress of a particular height.

It is essential that before commencing the art of landscaping, you conduct an extensive survey of your home and its surroundings to ensure that you take into account any glitches such as electrical wiring or gas lines.

You need to know that sometimes, it is unimportant how long a company specializing in landscaping has been working because a few, inspite of their prolonged existence are totally unreliable; go for a landscaping company whose record speaks for itself.

An arid area is usually characterized by inferior soil; the good news for people who live in places like this is that they can still landscape their homes using shrubs or flowers that do not need excellent soil to grow but which do quite well in poor soil.

People landscape their homes for a multitude of reasons that may include the need to prop up a part of the backyards that is falling apart or simply the desire to add value to the home’s worth; whatever reason you have for landscaping your home, you can be sure that there are various landscaping ideas that will cater for your needs.

Concrete landscaping is a type of landscape that uses concrete to frame the house; this form of landscaping is commonly used to create paths and walkways through the garden or to the front of the house and can be designed in a series of delightful twists, turns and patterns. It can also accompany innovative ideas that you have encapsulated in building oubuildings, structural elements and in building your own shed (if you chose to go that route). In short it is a very worthwhile endeavour.

I sense I am drowning in electrical cost every month. Do you feel the same? You can do something concerning this and you can begin today. There are several easy steps that you could begin taking right now.

You can easily get started cutting down your electrical expenses by simply following these methods below.

Why not start right in the place in your house you are presently in. Think with regards to exactly what you will be able to complete to lessen your power usage when you leave this room. Look around carefully and important things will immediately come to you. Whenever you leave a room you most likely do not actually give it a second thought about what energy consumption you have left behind. What occurs right now whenever you leave the room to go to the play room, or go outdoors into the yard with the kids? Probably absolutely nothing leaving lights, TV, radio, all on. I see this daily. You probably just think, Oh well I will probably be back within 15 to 30 minutes so why bother. Yes bother, simply because every little bit can help.

For illustration, merely by changing out those energy inefficient incandescent light bulbs with new energy efficient CFL light bulbs can easily help make a difference and this is actually just a really small investment.

A day really does not go by that I see several energy saving gadgets which if applied correctly can save you money. Of course a few are scams however others are worth your time to investigate. You can get some very complex units that actually can manage all the power usage in your house. Having said that there are smaller controls that you can use with your AC and heating systems that do a fantastic job of reducing your energy usage. Presently there is a lot of superb Green Energy Technology out there, so utilize it.

A major factor to large energy bills is the major use of our appliances. Exactly how you make use of your appliances is in fact a lot more important than how many appliances you have. Outlined below are a couple of the common home appliances which consume a lot of energy and what you can perform to decrease the usage.
Give some consideration to your daily shower routines. One large waste of electricity and also water is to allow your shower to warm up endlessly before getting in. If you are really intending to be energy conscious you will be diligent concerning getting in and right out of the shower. No day dreaming, get clean and get out.

It is very important to consider precisely what temperature you are maintaining your house. Be a good energy steward when making use of your air-conditioning and when heating your house. Adjusting a rooms temperature up or down 3 to 4 degrees truly is not a huge deal because your mind and body will acclimate rapidly. You will be very amazed regarding just what a difference this can help make to your monthly utility bill.

Regardless of whether you have a large family or not always use the washing machine as well as the dish washer solely when you have a full load of clothes or dishes. You’ll conserve energy and water. Simply by doing this you may possibly be able to cut the number of laundry loads in half for the month and reduce running the dish washer by 50% to 60%.

Merely performing the few things I have mentioned above will certainly help make a significant difference in your overall utility bill.

In the event that each of us do just what we can to reduce our energy consumption on a daily basis all of us can help make a difference in helping make our planet a better place. Begin right now to carry out your part.

Domestic Green Engineer – An Emerging Profession

With the rising concern for the environment, the demand for a domestic green engineer is on the rise. In the past, the nations were more concerned about their developments than the environment. This resulted in the gradual degradation of the environment, and an ecological imbalance. Consequently, there have been changes in the food chains; increases in air and water pollution; depletion of non-renewable energy resources; and deforestation and fast erosion of the top fertile soil. Now, the nations have woken up to these problems and are trying to restore the balance of nature. A domestic green engineer greatly helps the world in this endeavor.

Role Of A Domestic Green Engineer:

These engineers help the builder’s to make green buildings, and homeowners to practice sustainable living. Thus, they help in protecting the environment, saving money, and building a healthy community. The homes and buildings are big emitters of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. By making small changes, like using energy efficient appliances, homeowners can considerably reduce their carbon footprints. These engineers are trained in various aspects, like electrical systems, plumbing, installation of solar heating systems, rainwater harvesting, etc. They help to build homes that make maximum use of renewable energy resources and are energy efficient and in sync with the environment. They help to reduce the electricity consumption of the buildings by using optimal electrical solutions, and green plumbing practices.

In many states it is mandatory to make provision for rainwater harvesting, and sewage disposal plants, while constructing new buildings. People are more concerned about their health and environment these days, and, hence. Prefer to live in homes constructed with natural materials. The world governments have also increased their focus on the environment and are allocating big budgets for green issues. All this has resulted in increased demand for domestic green engineers. This sector lacks skilled and trained manpower and, hence, it’s a good idea to enter into this profession; particularly, if you have an inclination towards sustainable development. The demand for the professionals trained in this field is also driven by the fact that the environment rules and regulations have become strict, and various tax benefits are offered to the builders and the owners of green buildings currently.

Due to the prevailing global economic crisis, there are fewer job openings in most sectors, but green jobs are still hot. Even though companies and governments are reducing their expenditures on a number of things, there is no such cut in budget for protecting the environment. The jobs for these engineers exist in a number of fields. You can become an instructor, join an NGO, work with a construction company, or start your own consultancy business.

If you want to become a domestic green engineer, then you should search the Internet to find the institutes offering these courses. The duration and educational qualifications depend upon the type of course you are considering. Since there is a trend to opt for recession proof careers, many institutes have started offering these courses. You can pursue a domestic green engineer course even through distance education.

[affmage source="ebay" results="20"]domestic appliance spare parts[/affmage]

Are Good Washing Machines Gone?

Even though most washing machines are not made as fine as they used to be mainly due to the tough competition, there are still one or two brands of washing machines that are still good enough or even better than they used to be. So if you ever decide that you absolutely want the top of the washing machine, and know which brand to search for, you can still buy a very efficient and effective washing machine. The problem is that a lot of manufacturers who used to make good and reliable products are unfortunately no longer making them to the same standards.

But to start with, and just as a little reminder, the first electric washing machines started to be mass produced around the beginning of the twentieth century in the United States of America.

As competition in the market increased over the recent years, many washing machine manufacturers found themselves obliged to lower the quality of their products in order to lower their prices instead of maintaining a high quality and obviously having to sell a more expensive washing machine. They now prefer to design their washing machines by using cheaper production methods and cheaper suppliers of Washing Machine Spare Parts.

And so, instead of their washing machines becoming better, they just get worse than they were.

The increase in production costs over the past years has seen the best quality new washing machines reach prices that most people will not be prepared to pay because these prices seem far too high compared to a common washing machine that they would find in a supermarket. On the other hand, consumers should know that manufacturers, by dumping the quality of their products have not made the budget end of new washing machines cheaper to buy than ever before, but comparatively more expensive than ever to repair as they will certainly break down even more quickly. But the good news is that you could save money when your washing machine breaks down.

Most of people do not think about washing machine spare parts when their domestic appliance breaks down. They would usually get it fixed by a specialist who will buy the washing machine spare parts and do the work for you, or would directly go to buy another one. But one option they tend to forget is they could fix it by themselves. It is not usually too difficult to fix some parts of your washing machine.

Spare parts for domestic appliances?

I bought a gas fire about 3 years ago, so its out of warranty. The problem is that it isn’t working & having contacted the manufacturer they say that the company that made the part I need no longer exist. The only way to resolve the problem is to buy the complete workings for the fire which has also had a few modifications since I bought mine & the cost of the parts will be almost £200 plus I have then to get a Corgi gas engineer to fit it at probably the best part of another £100. Its not a simple case of chucking the whole thing out and buying a complete new fire as its one of those modern built in the wall framed stainless steel jobs set about a metre high in a purpose made appature……. surely manufacturers have a duty to supply spare parts for their products for a number of years ……or dont they???

What part do you need ??? there will be one somewhere if you look!

Washing Machine

If you are looking for a washing machine, you may want to consider washing machine types such as top-loaders. Top-loaders which cost around $350 and more are user-friendly since users do not need to bend over when using them. As an alternative, why not also consider purchasing front-loaders which cost around $600 and more?

The great thing about this type is that 65% of energy will be saved and around 30% of water will be conserved because the basins that come with it do not need to be filled with water. However, keep in mind that the newly-released top-loaders which cost around $900 oppose the front-loaders which are energy efficient. It is important to look for the following factors:

Tip 1 # A washing machine that does not heat all the water contained in the machine.

Often times, people buying washing machines often do not care about whether the washing machine they are buying heats only the water it needs. This statement was said by Standards of Excellence manager John O’ Meara. He stated further that nowadays, this feature has been very common in many washing machines. Most washing machines now has the feature of saving and conserving energy by heating not the entire water contained in the tank but only the water needed for the washing. Generally, the newly-released washing machines are much more efficient that the washing machines released in the past. This comment was made by Jill Notini from the Association of Home Appliance Manufacturers located in Washington D.C.

Tip 2 # A fast spin cycle.

If the spin cycle of a washing machine is fast, the faster it is to dry the clothes because more water is extracted from the spinner. According to www.applianceadvisor.com Alex Cheimets, it is very important that you look for a washing machine with a higher rpm or rotations per minute because it adds the energy that is being saved. A washing machine with 900 rpm is good and if you are looking for a machine that will help you save and conserve more energy, get a good pair of dryer and washing machine that comes with the moisture sensor. This shuts down the unit after detecting that the clothes are already dry.

Tip 3 # A machine that uses minimal amount of water.

According to Whirlpool spokesperson, Audrey Reed-Granger, the washing machines released in the past used 40 gallons of water for each cycle. If you would look at that for a year, you will arrive at over 14,000 gallon. It would be better to look for a washing machine that requires less than 14 gallons of water cycle consumption.

Tip 4 # Pedestals

Pedestals that cost around $100 up to $200 may now be installed in some washers and dryers. These pedestals are placed under the washing machine or dryer may be raised by one foot to make loading and unloading easier. There are also washers and dryers that already come with drawers used to stash bleach, stain-removal sticks and detergent.

Tip 5 # Extra rinse cycle

This is an additional option that you may opt to get. An extra rinse cycle allows the washing machine to dispense extra water while washing of clothes is ongoing. It a good way to remove stains and excessive detergent that may lead allergic people to sufferer especially babies however; the negative thing is that you may have to pay higher water bill.

A Piece of Advice:

Audrey Reed-Granger of Whirlpool noted that using spin cycle of a washing machine with a 1000 rpm shock-absorber free floor will make the floor shake but there is nothing to worry about this when used in a ground floor and basement because these machines are often reinforced.

Extended Warranty with which Company?

We have just bought a few kitchen appliances from Comet was going to take out extended warranty for up to 5 years but was wondering what would happen if they went bust as they send out their own repair people. Who would cover this. Would it be better taking this extended warranty cover with Domestic & General Insurance instead. Thanks for help.

Domestic & General -

Ring any insurance company (most if not all have freephone numbers) and ask them – usually cheaper as well.

Washing your clothes in cold water is great if you have cold-water detergent, but regular detergent is designed to work best with warm or hot water. If the water temperature of your washing machine is not properly regulated your clothes may not be getting as clean as they should.
why would my washing machine fill up after i have done a full wash and the water has drained out of the system

the water going into the washing machine is stagnant water. renovation has taken place in my building with two flat conversions. there have been recent plumbing problems with water leaking into the flat below me. i cant understand why water would get into my machine if the wash has drained out.it seems to happen over a period and i would notice it the next day.
is this bath water or dish water not draining from the pipe works because its definately not clean water from the hot and cold pipes

Is possible you have a back flow, or vacuum problem with the drain system. Contact building maintenance and have your problem investigated.

Understanding how your washing machine regulates water temperature can help you determine if your washing machine is working properly. Selecting the temperature setting for your wash cycle doesn?t guarantee the water temperature is correct.

Water enters your washer from separate hot and cold water taps in your home. Before making any unnecessary repairs, regulate the temperature of these two taps. In summer months your cold water will be warmer than in winter months, so you won’t need the temperature of the hot water tap to be as high. You can adjust the temperature of the hot water tap by adjusting the temperature settings on your furnace or boiler.

After adjusting the temperature of the water, check the following:

-Make sure the hot and cold taps are completely open.
-Make sure the temperature selector on your washer is set to the correct setting.
-Make sure the hot and cold water hoses are correctly connected to your washer.
[affmage source="ebay" results="8"]Washing Machine Spares[/affmage]
If the water temperature is still not correct, check the parts inside the washer that regulate water temperature. Some washers only allow hot or cold water to flow during certain cycles. Some models switch between hot and cold water, while others allow both hot and cold water to flow at the same time. (You can also look in the washer’s manual for more information on how the water entering your washing machine is regulated.) The parts responsible for regulating the temperature of the water are the temperature selector switch and water inlet valve.

The temperature selector switch allows you to choose the temperature of the wash and rinse cycles. Some washers only have a few choices of water temperatures, and some washers have many choices. The temperature selector switch consists of electrical circuits and contacts that open and close depending on the water temperature selected.

The water inlet valve is located at the back of your washer and it’s connected to the cold and hot water taps in your home. The water inlet valve contains two solenoids sometimes referred to as coils. One solenoid is for the hot water and one is for the cold water. The temperature selector switch regulates the opening and closing of the solenoids to control the flow of water through the valve. After the water passes through the solenoids, it leaves the valve through one common hose and fills your washer.

If there’s a problem with your water inlet valve, the water temperature is affected. Find out how to examine, test, and replace your washer’s water inlet valve in next weeks article ? Washer Woes: Part 2 – How to replace a water-inlet valve.

I have a whirlpool washer and the spin cycle will not work anymore.Do I need to buy a new washer?

My washer is a little over 5 years old none of the spin cycles works anymore no matter what the setting I put it on /perm press/delicate/ect.. The agitator works fine . Im not sure if I should have this repaired or just buy a new I would prefer to have it repaired if it wont be too expensive…

There are a few possible reasons this would occur:

- the lid switch is not working properly

- a faulty solenoid relay is not shifting the transmission into the spin cycle

- the timer which controls the solenoid relay is faulty

- the transmission itself is faulty.

In rare instances with belt-driven machines, a loose/worn belt will work in the agitation (wash) cycle but be too weak to spin the tub in the spin cycle. A burning rubber smell in your washroom would be a sign that the belt is slipping and needs to be replaced

There is nothing more heartbreaking then having your washer break down. It is usually something that doesn’t suddenly happen, but rather a moaning, slow death that can leave you washing your clothes with the other rif-raf at the laundromat, while a murder or drug deal is taking place in the alley out back.

Break Out the Tool Box

So you break out your tool box and begin to take your whirlpool washer apart but wait! Are you sure that you can put it all back together again after you do? Sure you can, if you just follow a few good tips.

Keep Notes

Use a pencil and piece of paper to create a map of just where everything came from as you dismantle it and save all the screws, nuts and washers. Tape little notes onto each part before you set it aside and keep everything together in a big box.

Consider Buying Used Parts Online
[affmage source="ebay" results="8"]Whirlpool Washer[/affmage]
Another good tip is to give serious consideration to buying used parts online when you replace what ever is broken on it. It will save you loads of cash and besides what is the rest of your Whirlpool washer but used parts?

Save all Gaskets

Make sure to save any gaskets that you come across no matter what shape they are in. This is because you can go down to any auto parts store and pick up a big sheet of “cut your own” gasket material and use your old gaskets to trace out new ones.

Get the Part Number

You are going to need your part number and model number before you begin to look online for the replacement part that you need. The part number should be on the part itself, but if it isn’t you can get it from a schematics on the company website.

A Final Tip

If you cant find the model number on your washing machine then the company website will also have that as well. A final tip, is to keep your box of parts up and away from kids because they are attracted to things of this sort like ants to honey.

Why does my washing machine fill with water after I use it?

Every time I use the washing machine, I notice a few hours after, that there is water in the bottom of the drum.
The only way to clear it is by running the cycle again which means I have to use the machine twice for every wash – once to clear the drum, and once to wash.
Because it happens every time, I have to leave the water and so it smells but how can I stop it entering the machine. It is a Hotpoint Electronic 1000 Plus 9534.

I have tried turning the blue and red valves off after the wash but it is still happening. Thanks for any help.

Need to replace the auto-fill valve. Google it for your model. It’s not hard to replace. The reason it fills even when you turn the water off is because there’s still water in the hoses.

If you are looking for a washing machine, you may want to consider washing machine types such as top-loaders. Top-loaders which cost around £350 and more are user-friendly since users do not need to bend over when using them. As an alternative, why not also consider purchasing front-loaders which cost around £600 and more?

[affmage source="ebay" results="6"]Hotpoint Washing Machine Spares[/affmage]

Tip 4 # Pedestals

Pedestals that cost around £100 up to £200 may now be installed in some washers and dryers.

[mage lang="en" source="answers"]domestic appliance engineer courses[/mage]

[affmage source="ebay" results="6"]LG Washing Machine[/affmage]
